Job Description : We are seeking to recruit a permanent, part-time Principal Psychologist to work within the Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS), which offers a pathway of care for the treatment/management of severe obesity. As part of NHSGGCs weight management service model, the tier 3 SWMS comprises a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of specialist dietitians, physiotherapists, psychologists, a technical instructor, plus administrative staff. The SWMS MDT also work alongside bariatric surgeons and specialist nurses in tier 4 as part of the assessment, preparation and support pathway for clients eligible for bariatric (weight loss) surgery. From the conception of the service, the integration of psychologists has aimed to ensure that all patients benefit from having psychosocial approaches incorporated throughout their treatment journey (across both tiers 3 & 4). All clients who access the SWMS have some level of psychological provision ranging from the least intensive: cognitive-behavioural and motivational components incorporated within the standard weight management programme; to the most intensive: individual psychological assessment and therapy. As an integral member of the team, your remit would cover the delivery of individual psychological assessment, individual therapy, as well group therapy to clients eligible for the SWMS lifestyle programme. You would provide specialist clinical supervision and training to MDT staff delivering psychologically-based interventions within the service, plus qualified, trainee or assistant psychologists when required. You will receive support and supervision from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Applicants should have post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), post-doctoral clinical experience and training, and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Post-qualification experience in adult clinical heath settings is desirable. The post requires the ability to travel to bases across the area, where required, and a current driving license. Core business hours are between 8am-5pm and we are happy to negotiate specific working hours/days to best meet the successful candidate’s needs as well as the services.
