We are looking for an experienced and motivated Program Manager to join our Track, Civil and Structures team based in our Brisbane CBD office. This role is responsible for providing Program management and associated services on Rail Infrastructure Projects for internal and external clients of Queensland Rail. This position primarily looks after programs of work in the north of the state on the North Coast Line north system, the Mt Isa Line and the Tablelands however you may be required to assist with program of works in the south.

In this role you will responsible for directly leading a team of approximately 5 Project Managers and the portfolio of work will consist of capital works, internal operational projects and externally funded operational projects valued in excess of $35m over the next 5 years.

Your strong project management experience in delivering rail related civil engineering projects coupled with your ability to lead a team will be paramount to your success. You will also be adaptable with outstanding communication, negotiation, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.

As a Program Manager within the Track, Civil and Structures team, you can anticipate some of your daily activities to include:
Leading, developing and managing project delivery teams which may include a mix of internal and external resourcesManaging the development and implementing of high quality project plans including schedules, cost plans and cash flows in line with the approved scope and budgetDetermining resourcing requirements and evaluating the suitability of various contractual and procurement strategies in a dynamic supply chain environmentMonitoring and managing assessment and implementation of risk management and value engineering activitiesMonitoring and managing consultations and communications with community groups, unions, statutory authorities and other stakeholdersMonitoring and managing the implementation of all project activities of contractors, consultants and internal service providers in relation to progress, work quality and costs against budget.Ensuring operational readiness plans are developed, agreed and implemented in accordance with business requirements.Reporting monthly to Management on project progressDeveloping and implementing remedial actions to cope with unexpected contingencies including preparation of project approval resubmissions when necessaryFinalising projects on completion, including transfer of assets, closure of project financial systems, submitting to project audit and review where required and the preparation of final project reports for managementBuilding relationships with Queensland Rail business units, government bodies, external providers and Queensland Rail staffAt all times in the project lifecycle ensuring that, as a Core Queensland Rail Value, Safety Comes First, Always.

About you
High level of skill in the application of project management methodologies within a multidisciplinary project management environmentSubstantial level of skill in developing and managing budgetsSubstantial knowledge of procurement processes, contract administration and design requirementsSubstantial level of interpersonal, written and oral communication and negotiating skillsSound level of skill in personal computer applications including MS Office, spreadsheeting and common personal computer-based project management tools‘C’ class drivers licence

This opportunity is permanent full-time and will require occasional travel and the ability to work weekends and additional reasonable hours when required.
