We currently have an opening for a Qualitative Researcher with relevant and comparable experience to join the team at our Manhattan office or Toronto.

About the Role:

As Qualitative Researcher, you will work independently and with our team on various projects to support our clients and their business objectives. The successful candidate will have skills in qualitative research methods, including but not limited to concept-testing, usability interviews, competitor analysis, diary studies, contextual inquiry/observations, and/or ethnographic exploration. Additionally, quantitative methods will also be necessary, so comfort in questionnaire design, sample sourcing, survey programming and hosting, would be an asset.

More specifically, your role will involve:

Design, manage and execute research studies while delighting and inspiring our clients
Lead client conversations, including managing expectations, responding to inquiries, keeping clients udpated and happy throughout the duration of any project
Must be comfortable creating screeners, discussion guides and leading qualitative fieldwork (in multiple languages would be a bonus!)
Work closely with internal teams, as well as other researchers, to execute research studies
Generate insights that shape how clients think about medium and long-term product strategy
Conduct workshops, field studies, interviews, surveys, usability tests, A/B testing, card-sorting, design reviews, and competitive analyses as appropriate
Create personas, scenarios, storyboards, conceptual models, journey and experience maps, service blueprints, and other artifacts to help drive design vision and strategy
Communicate insights in creative and compelling ways
Mentor other researchers, and maintain our team’s high standard of work

About You:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience within user or market research. In Addition:

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Design Research, Anthropology, Cognitive Psychology, or related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of proven, hands-on experience as a user, design or market researcher
Deep and broad knowledge of both qualitative research techniques
Excellent client/stakeholder management skills on proposal briefings, kickoff calls, the duration of a research project and through presentation of deliverables
Experience with storytelling and other narratives to create deep empathy for customers and their needs
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Experience with desktop and mobile app research tools (e.g. usertesting.com, Lookback.io) for moderated and unmoderated remote usability testing
A portfolio demonstrating user or design research experience
Experience using MS Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Self-motivated, autonomous, capable of managing own projects and workload
Organized, can manage different tasks simultaneously
Enthusiastic, open, friendly and customer orientated
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Mastery of English (native level preferred); fluency in a second language is a bonus
A keen eye for detail and accuracy
Able to demonstrate initiative, motivation and effective team working skills
