About the Role
The Gables is a small residential service with nursing in Littleport, near Ely, Cambridgeshire for individuals with a range of support needs, including; complex nursing needs, learning disabilities, mental health needs and palliative care. There is a warm, homely, positive environment at The Gables. Support workers and nursing colleagues are friendly and approachable and provide the very best personal support and nursing care to individuals with very complex needs.
The team ensure a flexible and pro-active approach and are dedicated to meeting the needs of the individuals they support. Many have worked at the home for a long period of time and are also very supportive of their colleagues. They work hard to establish good relationships with those who are important to the individuals living at The Gables.
You’ll demonstrate awareness of how clinical procedures related to people we support are carried out and administered to maintain their wellbeing and to prevent symptoms of ill being. Control the Service’s supplies and ensure the supplies are used effectively and economically and be able to recognise the legal implications of nursing documentation. Also being aware of and demonstrating statutory legislation and Company policies and procedures e.g. CS Act, NMC Guidelines, Health and Safety (see role specification).
You’ll be able to understand and demonstrate the importance of variation in people we support condition, staff compliance or non-compliance and any learning points that you might need to now or are unsure of or additional skills to remain competent to practice as a registered nurse. Report any mishaps as soon as possible to the Matron and record in the Incident/Accident Report book. As well as reporting the condition of the people we support, receive instructions and ensure that these instructions are carried out or document reason for non-compliance.
You will be an NMC Registered nurse with an active PIN number, and a strong knowledge of person-cantered care preferably with experience gained in working with learning disabilities, complex behaviours or forensic services. You’ll be able to demonstrate strong and effective communication and people skills, able to motivate and develop the wider team around you and have the ability to prioritise and delegate where necessary to provide the very best in care. You’ll also have knowledge of current care practices laid out by the CQC, a passion for delivering the very best standards to everyone
