The unit is one of the largest in the country, so we’ve created a large clinical pharmacy team to deliver the excellent service. Main duties of the job

You will deliver a high standard of medicine optimisation on ward rounds, ideally utilising your prescribing skills.

You will work closely with the MDT, on & off the ward.

You will have opportunities to support governance, education and medication safety.

You will be expected to line manage one of the band 6 pharmacists, providing mentoring, and supporting them with their development and objectives.

You will be expected to be involved in quality improvement work within acute medicine, and aim to publish your work to share your findings.

You will be working a shift pattern over 7 days, and time off to compensate is built in.

Supporting and providing the clinical pharmacy service to the Acute Medicine specialty, and the wider Medicine Division where necessary.

Actively participating in consultant-led ward rounds to promote and support medicines optimisation, antimicrobial stewardship and effective discharge planning by utilising prescribing skills.

Involvement in education and training of a variety of healthcare professionals including diploma & pre-registration pharmacists, undergraduates and trainee advanced nurse practitioners.

There are no dispensary duties required as part of this role as the satellite pharmacy on the ward has its own team.

Whilst this post is commissioned to be full time (equivalent of 37.5 hours per week) we would welcome applications from those wanting a better work life balance. Qualifications
Essential criteria
Registered with GPhC
Holds a post-graduate clinical diploma or significant clinical experience instead of dilpoma
Desirable criteria
Qualified as an independent prescriber
Experience
Essential criteria
Broad post-qualification clinical experience in an acute setting
Experience of day to day supervision and assisting in training of pre registration pharmacists and/or technicians.
Experience of training and education of both pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals
Desirable criteria
Evidence of project work completed
Experience in undertaking, and reporting/presenting audit / research work at local (Trust) level.
Communication & relationships
Essential criteria
Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams
Desirable criteria

Analytical and Judgement skill

Able to analyse patient specific data to advise on therapy management
