As a Senior Engineer, Backend within our backend for frontend and mobile app teams, you will be responsible for the development, deployment, and monitoring of many services in our backend.

Our tech stack is comprised of: GraphQL, Elasticsearch, Golang, JSONAPI, NodeJS, Apollo, Redis, Python, terraform, NewRelic and AWS. The more of these technologies you know already, the better, but really, we are looking for someone who can adopt to new technologies quickly. Ideally, you will have had prior experience with GraphQL backends.

You will be responsible for the rollout of our product search, discovery, and recommendations engine, you will be tasked with building multiple integrations with different databases and services. Your experience as a backend programmer, along with the deep technical understanding of Elasticsearch will ensure the success of broader team to provide a world-class search experience.
What you’ll do:
Provide insight for improvements on the AWS cloud-based infrastructure running Elasticsearch.
Improve search relevance and build out a product recommendation service
Guard against search relevance regression.
Manage data ingestion reliability
Collaborate with the broader team involved in delivering or processing data
Contribute to improving the search performance and capability of the search engine
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Identify and remediate pain points in the application/development lifecycle
Recommend and assist with architectural changes to improve performance and Reliability
To help us level up, ideally, you’ll have:
5 years (minimum) working experience with Elasticsearch 3 years (minimum) experience with AWS
5 years (minimum) working experience with Graphql and API
Experience implementing Elasticsearch Java plugins
Ability to work autonomously and be ready for global growth and expansion plans!
Bonus points for:

Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science
