The Powertrain finance team is a dynamic team providing all-round financial support for electrification/engine unit programmes and architecture powertrain systems.
As well as providing financial control, the finance team acts as a key business partner to the Engineering and Commercial teams ensuring that the programmes achieve financial targets. The Whitley based role (with travel to Gaydon) enables operational interaction with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Commercial teams, offering the opportunity to become a true business partner to the Centre of Competence (CoC) teams.
As Senior Finance Analyst you’ll be responsible for:
Delivering finance solutions to support the strategic direction of the business while ensuring the Finance strategy/approach is aligned across the business unitSupporting the Powertrain management team to achieve short and long term strategic objectives by delivering plans and initiatives through proactive Finance Business PartneringCross functional working with the wider finance community to deliver finance strategies / initiativesDeveloping strong working relationships with Programme Management, CoC leads, Programme leads, Module leaders, Purchasing, Cost Estimating, Manufacturing and Commercial teams.Key contact and business partner for the programmes, offering financial insight and challenge to all relevant operational areas.Responsible for financials of powertrain architecture programmes.Frequent analysis & reporting of financials to help support the monthly programme reporting process, gateway submission and follow up actions.Supporting programme gateway submissions and actions.Calculating finance sensitivities understanding key value levers and use financial analytics to identify opportunities to improve business performance. Managing risks and opportunities of programmesDrafting papers for pre-product committees and Board of Management.Control of the programme material and investment costs. Working with the relevant teams to ensure that the Bill of Material is robust and accurate.Preparing business cases e.g. make vs buy, Ignite proposals – Validating inputs with operational stakeholders and recommending next steps and actionsSupporting with presenting programme updates to senior stakeholders within engineering and across the wider businessResolving customer issues and concerns through effective cross functional team networkingDeveloping and deliver accurate business forecastingConducting root cause analysis of variances and overseeing course correctionAdhere to the policies, controls and governanceAccountable for delivering against agreed KPIs/objectivesEnsure operational teams are provided with robust and relevant MI, through effective collaboration and networking with MI&A and GFS teamsShowcase key insights in an impactful and easy-to-understand way through data visualisation and compelling narrativesUndertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll join us with previous experience in Finance Business Partner role gained at a similar level as well as this you’ll have sound financial and commercial business insight shown through evidence of developing, introducing new or innovative practices/processes in support of strategic business goals.
Naturally, you’ll have strong numerical, analytical skills supported by communication and presentation skills – used to translate financial issues for operational teams as well as strong analytical skills with an eye for detail and the ability to balance delivery of conceptual work with attention to detail and hands on delivery
You’ll be comfortable in challenging operation stakeholder and influencing conclusions but have strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop and nurture relationships.
Ideally, you’ll have strong IT skills, particularly with Excel as well as this you’ll be fully Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA or similar).
