The VMware Service Provider and Edge Business Unit (SEBU) develops platforms and solutions for Telco’s wide area network environments from core to RAN to edge. We leverage core VMware products and technologies wherever possible, and work through our Telco and field sales teams and strategic partners to reach customers world-wide. Through our Telco Cloud Platform, we help VMware and our customers stay at the forefront of innovation in telecommunications networks.
The Sr. Manager, Technical Enablement will play an important role in scoping, developing and delivering L200-400 technical trainings for technical sellers, partners and customers. The individual will work across multiple cross functional teams and subject matter experts to ensure content and enablement priorities, requirements and commitments are managed and delivered to mutually agreed upon scope and schedule. Cross functional teams include (but not limited to) Product Management, R&D, technical sellers and delivery teams, Partners, Marketing, and VMware Learning & Education Delivery teams.
To be successful in this position, the candidate must be comfortable in scoping and delivering technical and lab-based training content. A successful candidate will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. This role will include a mix of long-term strategic projects and short-term execution oriented projects.
Responsibilities include:
Drive success and adoption of technical enablement and education programs for VMware Telco sales engineers, partners and customers
Work with Telco subject matter experts to scope, create and deliver in person/virtual technical trainings and labs
Develop and maintain project plans including charter, scope, schedules, dependencies, risk assessment and mitigation plans.
Drive continuous improvement of processes, methodology, templates, best practices etc. based on sales/geo and team feedback.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in scoping, developing and delivering technical trainings across different audiences.
Mobile Telecommunications industry experience and technical educational background is required. VMware product/solutions knowledge would be a huge plus.
Solid understanding of 3GPP standards, 4G and 5G, RAN, Mobile and Fixed-line services.
Solid hands-on understanding of Cloud Technologies – Datacenter architecture, Containers, Kubernetes. Knowledge of Kafka, APIs and CI/CD are a plus.
Solid Hands-on understanding of Service provider data networking (L2, L3, DCI). Familiarity with CNIs is a plus.
Ability to learn fast, shift directions even faster and work collaboratively on a highly effective team.
Exceptional skills in teaming, attention to detail, tracking, and reporting in a highly dynamic environment.
Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
Experience in working with multiple business units concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to deliver high-quality deliverables.
Bachelors degree required. Masters or equivalent experience preferred.
International and domestic travel may be required.
