Innovative opportunity for a Senior Product Manager (Home Ownership/Mortgages) to join our Banking-as-a-Service (Baas) division
Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) is a greenfield venture, that sits within the Westpac Group, operating under the Westpac license. BaaS enables third party distribution partners to offer their customers financial services through their app as part of their existing suite of products and services.
This role presents a unique opportunity to be part of a new and growing business which will transform the way customers access financial services in a digital setting. By going to market via third-party distribution partners we are creating new and innovative propositions, serving customers that may not otherwise have a relationship with the Bank and deepening the customer relationships of our distribution partners. Leveraging cloud-native technology from UK-based 10x Future Technologies, the new Banking-as-a-Service platform allows partners to manage the look and feel of the customer experience, whilst Westpac – as the licensed Authorised deposit-taking institution – will hold the direct banking relationship with end customers.
How will I help?
The Senior Product Manager (Home Ownership/Mortgages) is responsible the success of the yet-to-be launched BaaS home lending product. This means designing the home lending product from a customer, operational and commercial perspective while ensuring we meet all our legal and regulatory obligations.
Drive the execution of all product lifecycle processes for BaaS home lending, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and product launch.
Assist with the build of a digital end-to-end customer journey and mortgage originations system with a focus on the latest technology and automation to provide a best-in-market user experience across the value chain.
Gather the product design outcomes for digital BaaS home lending and translate these into detailed requirements for MVP construction and a go-to-market offering for development by delivery teams.
Provide qualitive and quantitative research to support discovery, strategy development and design recommendations.
Develop acquisition, activation, and retention-based strategies and ensure alignment with business stakeholder strategies.
Once launched, you will be responsible for the product’s performance and management of the product across its lifecycle in compliance with regulatory obligations
Establish unit economics and set pricing in alignment with market positioning and profitability hurdles.

What do I need?
Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of mortgage lending e.g. a deep understanding of credit risk policy, operational processes and regulatory requirements related to mortgage lending is essential
Experience with product design, improvement, project delivery and transformation initiatives (ideally in a dynamic product management role).
Proven ability to strategise the full lifecycle of product production — from conception through release
A strong understanding of technology and business systems strategically and operationally.
Sound awareness of risk management principles, assessment and controls
Demonstrated experience in managing key stakeholder relationships at all levels
