About the team
Careem Pay’s vision is to become the leading digital financial services platform of the region serving consumers, captains and merchants. Its purpose is to empower people to lead better lives by simplifying their payment experiences and access to financial services.
As an early-stage start-up within Careem, we are building a team of energised, start-up-minded colleagues who are super excited about the massive fintech opportunity in the region.
What you’ll do
Will play a leadership role in the conceptualization, development and definition of merchant and shopper experience product and features for in-person payments.
Understand Careem’s strategic and competitive position and deliver payment acceptance products that are recognized best in the industry
Identify opportunities and scope/research them to build a perspective on what we should be building
Partner closely with top engineers to define and transition to the target architecture for payments acceptance for the group in the target geographies
Work closely with external partners like PSP, Processors, strategic merchants for management of specific payment acceptance programs and relationships
What you’ll need
7+ years of leadership experience in building and launching new products and/or managing financial or payments products
Knowledge of the MEA Digital Payments markets and experience with merchant acceptance products (Digital & Physical)
A humble and scrappy get-it-done mindset; you’re resourceful and in your element going from 0 to 1
You have experience in developing APIs, API strategy and lifecycle management.
Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to independently lay out and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction

Even though we are working remotely, we are strong believers in collaboration and the power of building social connections with our teams. For that reason, our offices are still open and provide plenty of collaboration-friendly spaces at times when teams need it or if you need a quiet space to work outside of home.
You’ll be working in the location you’re hired from. Due to legal and compensation considerations, you will need to be based out of the country you’re hired from as your primary work location.
