Job Description
The Role:
We are looking for an outstanding Data Engineer with at least 5+ years of experience working with data and is passionate about technology & architecture, loves hands-on development and wants to build scalable, high performance state of the art platform.
Responsibilities:
Create and maintain database standards including – build, monitor, backup and security standards for the various DB technologies including NoSQL and SQL.
Conduct proof-of-concepts to evaluate different technologies on both SQL and NoSQL in various areas including availability, scalability, security, manageability, and performance.
Provide technical expertise and hands-on support to database and other teams.
Owns overall solution architecture and lead multiple strategic programs around data as a key asset driving products, platforms, architecture
Work directly with business users to translate requirements into solutions and ultimately develop and deploy cutting-edge solutions that leverage cloud-based data architectures.
Rapidly Prototype working models and solutions to obtain business alignment on approach.
Coordinates technical kick-off sessions by providing detailed product architecture overviews and development plans.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Strong understanding of database fundamentals on both relational and non-relational database technologies.
5+ years of experience designing and maintaining relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
1+ years of experience with one or more of NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra, MongoDB, CouchBase, Redis.
Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, recovery paths).
Strong experience in writing complex SQL queries and hands-on experience in database performance optimization.
Strong knowledge of operating systems on UNIX/Linux and good understanding of network and storage.
Experience with one or more programming languages like Python, Perl etc.
Proven track record driving rapid prototyping and designs.
Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage.
Strong desire to explore and learn new technologies.
Ability to work well as a team and as an individual with minimal supervision.
Must be able to visualize, analyze, communicate and solve complex problems, and make disciplined decisions based on available information.
Takes ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements and aligns with the vision, mission, objectives, strategy of the team.
