Job Description : BASIC FUNCTIONS:
This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line. The position should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of Software Engineering experience
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
· Proficiency in development languages/frameworks in Java/J2EE, Spring / Spring Boot framework
· AWS development and deployment experience, including specific knowledge of Kubernetes is desirable
· Exposure to Kafka would be preferable.
· Able to complete simple technical tasks within their area of experience autonomously
· Able to complete tasks of moderate technical complexity or outside their area of experience with some direction from more senior engineers
· Able to follow existing team behaviors and improve them to some degree
· Able to collaborate effectively within the team to tackle significant pieces of work
· Able to develop own skills somewhat autonomously
· Has some understanding of the limits of their knowledge, and limited understanding of the wider technical landscape (alternative technologies and approaches)
· Identify weaknesses in own work and address them
· Identifies opportunities to improve own skills, develops and incorporates into own working practices
· Able to correct approaches and solutions with guidance
· Ability to work with complex data models.
· Able to consider alternative patterns and evaluate them on merit based on existing experience
· Identifies that a particular business requirement fails to consider some edge cases, clarifies desired behavior with the PO and gets agreement from Lead/Principal, implements the code
· Familiarity of industry best practices — code coverage.
· Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
· Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
· Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
· Knowledge of test-driven development.
· Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
· Ability to complete moderately complex bug fixes.
· Good oral and written communications skills.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
· Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
· Work closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
· Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
· Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
· Resolve technical issues as necessary.
· Keep abreast of new technology developments.
· Complete bug fixes.
· All other duties as assigned.
