The Risk development group is responsible for building critical risk and fraud prevention applications and services at VISA. This includes idea generation, architecture, design, development, and testing of products, applications, and services that provide Visa clients with solutions to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud for Visa and Visa client payment systems.
This position is ideal for an experienced SW engineer who is passionate about solving challenging business problems and building applications that provide an excellent user experience. You will be one of the member of the RISK development team focusing on design and build of software solutions that leverage data to solve business problems. Sometimes you will be designing brand-new software solutions, and at other times you may be refactoring existing functionality for performance and maintainability, but always working on ways to make us more efficient and provide better solutions to our customers. The role is for a self-motivated individual with expert software engineering skills and extensive knowledge of Java/J2EE, Database and Web technologies. The candidate will be extensively involved in leading hands-on software engineering activities including POCs, design, documentation, development and test of new functionality. You will also be assisting and coaching junior team members.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
Drive development effort End-to-End for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable coding and security standards
Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved
Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner
Hands-on development of high-concurrency, high-volume and low-latency applications written in Java and Spring
Developing Microservices and APIs using Java and GoLang
Work on container-based deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
Coach and mentor junior engineers on the team and help get them unblocked
Troubleshoot Production Issues as needed by working closely with Product and Support Teams
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both home and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, Monday (Sunday in some countries where Sunday is the start of the week) and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are designated as in-office collaboration days. The third day in the office will be decided based on team needs and determined in partnership with senior leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
At least 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 4 years of relevant work experience with a Masters Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of Software Development Experience or a Masters degree with 4 years of Software Development ExperienceExposure to leading-edge tech such as Stream Computing, In-Memory ComputingExpert in at least one of the following: Java, C# or C/C++Experience with web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC).Exposure to UI Frameworks like Angular or ReactExperience with container-based deployment pipelines using Docker, working with Docker images, Kubernetes and Docker RegistriesExperience building solutions using CICD concepts in mind with a good grasp of build and delivery tools such as Maven, Artifactory, Jenkins, Octopus or BambooExperience in building APIs to provide backend integration with other open stack and downstream APIsExperience with Big Data and analytics in general leveraging technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and MapReduce a plusExperience with No SQL database technologies like Cassandra a plusExperience with Kafka a plusExperience with distributed caching technologies like REDIS a plus
