Job Description : As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you’ll help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and reducing work through automation. You’ll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. In this environment you’ll take the lead on relevant projects, supported by an organization that provides the support and mentorship you need to learn and grow. As an SRE, you’ll be focused on running better production applications and systems.
Responsibilities:
Develop, test, and debug automated tasks (Apps, Systems, Infrastructure)
Troubleshoot minor incidents and contribute to resolution through post-mortems
Participate in the application or service development lifecycle through code contributions
Engage with tools and operations teams to address failure patterns and incidents
Develop automation tools for efficient, noiseless alerting, toil, and technical debt
Conduct performance tests, document and/or identify application optimizations
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an software engineering discipline
Proficiency in at least one software language (e.g. Python, Java, Go, etc.).
Understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
Advanced knowledge of one or more infrastructure components (e.g. networking, cloud services, orchestration tools, containerization, compute, and storage systems)
Capable of managing service-level changes to a system or service
Hands-on experience with cloud deployment, monitoring, and ops analysis tools such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, DynaTrace, etc.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
A desire to learn new technologies best practices and apply techniques to maximize performance and availability.
Strong infrastructure and application performance and resiliency expertise
You’ll be analysing designs and changes to a global scale Critical Application Framework application and it’s infrastructure to ensure they meet system’s non-functional requirements.
You will be producing test strategies, test execution plans, building automated test packs, recording & analysing results and producing test reports
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications for different audiences, ranging from senior business to junior technology staff.
A practical & pragmatic approach to working on technical re-engineering, while continuing to deliver business benefit in parallel.
Knowledge, interest, and application of design patterns and development best practices, continuous availability.
Experience of working collaboratively within a globally diverse team.
Drive to uncover system problems and confidence to provide suggestions and solutions
Technical expertise includes:
Cloud technologies. Experience in Private/ Public cloud.
A strong background in Java and developing Spring Boot applications is essential.
Experience of Spring JDBC and SQL is required, together with a working knowledge of relational & NoSQL database systems.
Experience of the design and implementation of REST interfaces is desired.
Experience of Continuous Integration technologies, Jenkins, Maven, Cucumber, Mocks, JMeter, JUnit, etc. is expected.
Proficiency in working with the Linux OS and scripts is require.
An interest in underlying physical infrastructure is advantageous.
You will be producing test strategies, test execution plans, building automated test packs, recording & analysing results and producing test reports
Strong in one or more of: SQL, shell scripting, system monitoring tools (NMON, IOSTAT).
Hands on approach to technology with evidence of self learning and deep understanding of a process, system or technology.
