Job Description : I am working with an exceptional SaaS business in the RegTech domain on the expansion of their London office who are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join them.
You will be overseeing multiple teams who are responsible for the creation of highly scalable distributed applications and services. You will be the cornerstone of the team and build a best in class division who develop highly scalable user-centric applications at pace. The ideal candidate will enjoy the craft of software engineering and see it as just that – a craft! Something to be honed and developed with care and a creative flare.
The role
Lead a team of top tier Engineers working on highly complex problems
Be a 2nd line manager – 60% of your time spent on your team – growing and empowering them and 40% of your time on design reviews and sprint planning
Work closely cross functionally to foster a collaborative environment
Mentor your team and help develop them as Engineers and individuals
Build out your team and be an active participant in the recruitment process
Be a proponent of continuous improvement in your team on architecture, process and the code itself
Set out long and short term plans for your team and ensure all relevant peers are on board and aligned
Advocate for secure coding practices
You
Degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or relevant experience
2+ years’ experience as a 2nd line Software Engineering Manager or Senior Manager overseeing a team of 20+ individuals including Line managers/lead
3+ years’ in 1st line Software Engineering Manager overseeing 3 or more individuals
8+ years in software development – shipping enterprise grade software in multiple languages and frameworks
Strong proven experience in people management including recruitment
Experience building highly scalable distributed services, microservices API’s and complex databases in service and resource-oriented architectures
Worked with large complex databases and data quality
Understanding of up to date frameworks and techniques for web app user interfaces
Preferable

Big Data technology
Security in an enterprise environment
