Wealth Management Technology is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Business. Practice areas include: Analytics, Intelligence, & Data Technology (AIDT), Client Platforms, Core Technology Services (CTS), Financial Advisor Platforms, Global Banking Technology (GBT), Investment Solutions Technology (IST), Institutional Wealth and Corporate Solutions Technology (IWCST), Technology Delivery Management (TDM), User Experience (UX), and the CAO team.

Job Profile

This position is for a Search Center of Excellence team engineer to join WMT data Platform COE team. This position provides COE and Engineering assistance to all Search applications hosted on Fusion Solr cluster.

We are looking for colleagues with strong sense of ownership and ability to drive solutions. The role is primarily responsible to automate the existing process and bring new ideas and innovation. And to work with Enterprise engineering, Architecture and application teams to come up with the right processes and tools.

The candidate is expected to code, conduct code reviews, and test software as needed, along with participating in application architecture and design and other phases of the SDLC.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player committed to delivering on time and should be able to work with without or minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
Review, design and end-to-end onboarding of usecases on Apache Solr/Lucidworks Fusion platform. (Solr / Fusion / Hadoop Ecosystem)
Code robust, generic and reusable components for Fusion service framework
Assist existing and new applications to come up with most optimized and suitable solutions for their requirement
L3 point of contact for issues related to Search platform
Performance tuning and capacity management
New technology POC and suitability analysis for Enterprise Search and Analytics
Process optimization with the help of automation and new utility development
Work in collaboration with vendors like Lucidworks for any Solr related activity
Performance review of Solr changes going into PROD to ensure SLA adherence and capacity.
Plan and execute system upgrade and enhancements
Deliver on all phases of development work from initial kick-off, technical setup, application development, and support.
Identify opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs along with designing for future challenges
Embrace emerging standards while promoting best practices
Perform ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and delivering continuous improvement
Coordinate with other teams, business and vendors as necessary.
Manage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of a team

QUALIFICATIONS
Skill Set

8+ years of experience in Distributed data platforms.
Expert in distributed indexing and search engine preferably Apache Solr.
Strong Architecture design skills
Should have strong hands-on experience on performance tuning concepts for distributed environments.
Familiar with basic distributed systems concepts.
Good UNIX knowledge.
Good analytical ability
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Must possess strong leadership skills and should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to execute and prioritize tasks and resolve issues without aid from direct manager or project sponsor.
Strong Search skills including Apache Solr, Lucidworks
Should be familiar with the best practices and tricks around the Enterprise search.
Should have strong hands-on JAVA experience
Good UNIX knowledge.
Good analytical ability

Must possess strong leadership skills and should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to create and maintain a positive environment of shared success.
