Job Description : The roleA part time temporary post has become available in the Literacy & Numeracy Support Service due to an increase in schools requiring regular weekly teaching for Maths.We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher from September 2022 until March 2023 in the first instance, with the possibility of an earlier start. The role is for one full day and two mornings 0.4 FTE. Additional hours may be available.Please note that not all Wandsworth schools have full accessibility, but we will endeavour to meet employee’s accessibility needs.About the serviceThe service has operated as a trading account for many years so there is a strong possibility of the contract continuing. The post is part-time for one full day and two mornings, with the possibility of additional assessment work for Maths difficulties, Literacy Difficulties & Dyslexia and access arrangements assessments on a supply basis. There may also be the potential for working with students with Literacy Difficulties subject to contracts with our schools.About the teamOur team currently consists of 9 members, who come from a variety of teaching backgrounds including SENCOs, Literacy and Numeracy subject leaders etc. We have all completed a level 7 SpLD qualification or above. The majority of the service’s work is delivering weekly one-to-one teaching to pupils within their schools and we currently work with around 160 students in 30 schools on a regular basis. In addition, we carry out one-off specialist assessments, as well as access arrangements for Secondary schools. We have a central base currently at Swaffield School where our resources are held with a small training area. However, we hold the majority of our regular staff meetings and INSET online.About the roleThe Specialist Teacher will be responsible, under the direction of the manager, for delivering specialist provision for children who have been identified as having numeracy difficulties by their school. The work will involve:Working across a number of schools (mostly primary);Assessing and teaching pupils with numeracy difficultiesAdvising and supporting teachers and parents of pupils with numeracy difficulties (including dyscalculia);Carrying out small scale collaborative projects to help embed effective practice within the classroom;Providing INSET for schools.For an informal discussion about the post please contact Janet Goring on Janet.Goring@richmondandwandsworth.gov.ukBenefitsWe recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working.
