Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This Sr. Systems Administrator position is within the compute operations team. This position requires applying root cause operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities to keep the services up and running. This is a professional level position and requires strong execution and analytical abilities. This role works independently and receives minimal guidance. This role must have strong communication and analytical skills, and prior experience in driving process improvements. This role is expected to participate in devising the technology strategy and operating standards for Visa’s Compute infrastructure. This position is expected to interact with Systems, Database, Engineering, Asset Management, Product Development, Operations, Audit and Risk, and various groups within Technology. This role must have strong communication and analytical skills.
As a member of the System Administration team, you are responsible for applying skills and exercising knowledge to perform specified support functions. As part of the team -You will support critical applications and ensure the stability of services by performing dedicated maintenance activities. You engage in automation activities, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation. Knowledge of production support process including incident/change/problem management, call triaging, and critical issue resolution procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Infrastructure Operations and Production Support of container technologies and orchestration platforms (Docker UCP Swarm, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
OpenShift Enterprise implementation and Support
Working with tools surrounding the Kubernetes ecosystem such as helm, kubeadm, Sysdig, Prometheus, Grafana, FluentD etc.
Working with configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, terraform etc.)
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Systems infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models
Operate in complex, highly secure, highly available, operations-centric datacenter environments and interact with other technology domain experts as required
Working knowledge of monitoring and automation tools: Ansible, Netcool, Splunk, Opera, SysDig
Security Remediation process (vulnerability assessment and patch management)
Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets
Document and thoroughly understand the application architecture, system configuration across platforms and interface with various systems and use this knowledge effectively to resolve issues
Work closely with customer support team to communicate the root cause of the outage, duration and recommendations or steps to resolve issues
Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Unix Systems across all tiers, under minimal supervision
Exposure converged hardware including Dell, HP, EMC, and Hitachi HDS.
Proficient in troubleshooting storage related issues as it relates to EMC/Hitachi HDS storage arrays, extending to the basic support knowledge of Brocade storage switch technologies.
Must have strong knowledge & experience in system monitoring techniques and tools supporting unattended operations.
Responsible for partnering with the Platform, Engineering and Delivery Teams to deliver seamless infrastructure support for all Visa business lines
Responsible for adherence of established ITIL practice
Ability to operate in complex, highly secure, and highly available, operations environments and interact with the technology domain experts required to maintain those environments
Position will require shift-based work hours.
Provide automation solutions of manual tasks performed by infrastructure support.
Will work closely with areas across Visa including, Operations, Engineering, Service Product office, and Global Open System Development Lines.
The candidate will be heavily involved in ensuring team meets all SLA’s and team objectives.
Managing large heterogeneous infrastructure involving primarily Linux, and exposure to ESXi
Lead and participate in the determination of root causes for service failure and support escalation, using knowledge and experience of VMWare ESX vSphere, Containers, Kubernetes, HADOOP, Blade/Brick (HP/Dell), Linux and GPFS.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
8 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related
or
At least 5 years of work experience with an Advanced degree in Computer science or related
Preferred Qualifications:
