As a Staff Software Engineer you will be aligned to GEHC Data & Analytics group where you need to contribute to Data product’s which includes building new data service features around Machine/Cloud/Edge and/or engineer SAAS based data management product outcomes to meet GEHC customer/SBU’s/RBU’s business needs. In this role, you will:
Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate, and justify the estimate with factsDemonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boardingProvide technical leadership to an agile teamBe an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the projectExecute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus in delivering tasks to meet the product release goalMaintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automationSeek and provide feedback on design and developmentDemonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessmentUnderstand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or moduleHelp in designing interfaces and information exchange between modulesArticulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing.Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designsBe an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practicesBe an expert in core data structures as well as algorithms and has the ability to implement them using language of choiceBe responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructureProvide guidance to a team of 5 to 7 developers with either planning and execution and/or design architecture using agile methodologies such as SCRUMWork with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements & vision
Education Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience with minimum years of experience 10 years
Technical Expertise:
Mandatory
Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles & AWS cloud
Experience in utilizing Spring Framework & Native Microservices Software Development (Core, MVC, Integration and Data)
Hands on experience in software development covering full stack (Java, HTML5/JS, REST, Java, Python, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL)
Building Advanced SQL query models customized to fit in SAAS products
Technology Understanding: REST APIs, Algorithms, Data structures, Database (SQL/NoSQL/In-Memory), Messaging, UI Development
Hands-on experience with S3, RDS, Lambda, AWS Dynamo DB, Aurora, Redshift, Elasticsearch, Step function etc
Knowledge of accessibility and security compliance – Secure coding principles, threat modelling
Tooling experience: Scripting experience – Python, Postman
Understanding of containerization technologies, docker containers and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
Deeper understanding on building robust back-end services, adapters, multi-threading techniques and networking principles
Ops Experience: Performance Monitoring and Optimization
Excellent knowledge with development tools & integrated build systems: Eclipse IDE, Git/Jenkins/Maven
Have experience around Design Documentation lifecycle process code quality, code reviews, Troubleshooting, quality unit tests
Desired Characteristics:
Experience with BI tools, ETL frameworks
Experience with Play framework, Angular is a big plus
Experience with Big Data / Hadoop and NoSQL Database is a big plus
Working knowledge of Data pipelines using Spark & Kafka is an added advantage
Knowledge of data management concepts including data catalogs, data lineage and data quality solutions
Experience in Healthcare domain
