As a Tax Specialist, your role will be assisting the Tax Manager for all corporate tax, GST, FATCA and CRS reporting for Singapore Life’s diverse businesses in Singapore. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, completeness, timeliness and controls over all tax-related matters for regulatory, statutory and financial reporting:
You will keep abreast abreast of developments in tax regulations and assists the Tax Manager to prepare papers to assess the impact of changes in tax rules.
Help keep key decision makers informed of issues (resulting from developments in tax regulations) that may become important.
Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with tax agents, tax authorities and auditors in achieving the objectives.
You will also ensure a consistent communication flow with key stakeholders in managing deliverables and expectations.
You will evaluate the tax impact of business matters and recommend a course of action to the Tax Manger to ensure compliance with key requirements. The role holder is expected to be the tax authority on business transactions.
Provide tax advice to the subsidiaries within the Singlife Group as and when required.
Work closely with the tax agent to ensure timely submission of all tax, GST, FATCA and CRS reporting, including the response to IRAS on tax queries.
Work with other departments within the Company (e.g. Customer Service, Compliance, Legal, IT and Actuarial) on the timely submission of FATCA and CRS reporting.
Participates in LIA and/or IRAS discussions on tax, GST, FATCA and CRS matters.
The role holder is expected to conduct training workshops on tax to team members and other staff members.
To participate in ad-hoc projects as and when assigned.
Required Capability:
Qualified accountant requiring minimum CA and Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy
3-5 years of insurance-related tax experience in an insurance company or Big 4 accounting firm
Strong tax technical knowledge and excellent problem-solving skills
Highly motivated with ability to work independently and sometimes in a non-structured environment
Ability to come up with “out of the box” solutions that can be presented in a structured and precise manner
Attention to details
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Good understanding of insurance products and the impact on finance related functions
