Job Description : To be responsible to the class teachers to fully support and engage in the day-to-day organisation and pastoral and academic development of the children in the Pre-Prep.To undertake any other duties that the Head of Pre-Prep may from time to time require.Specific Responsibilities: To teachers: · To assist the teacher to provide a secure, stimulating and orderly environment in which pupils’ happiness, welfare and all-round development can be nurtured· To embrace the opportunity to support children in independent, child-led and adult assisted learning activities· To teach a small group of children phonics using the Ruth Miskin scheme (full training will be given)· To help with the teaching of reading and maintaining reading records· To help deliver daily numeracy lessons· To support the departments high standards of behavior amongst the pupils· To assist the class teachers with assessment procedures· To be concerned with the general welfare of the children, including matters relating to personal hygiene and health· To attend regular planning and staff meetingsTo parents: · To ensure that positive communication is maintained with parents through informal opportunities· To attend parents’ information evenings and forums for new groups of parents and some parents evenings· To attend school Open mornings 3 times a yearGeneral Duties: · To participate in school lunches with the children· To undertake playground duties and administer basic first aid, if required· To undertake INSET courses as necessary for professional development· To attend staff meetings and whole school conferences· To be prepared to help out with The Hideout (after school care), if neededMinimum Qualifications: · NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (Early Years preferred, but not essential)· GCSE English and Maths Grade A-C, or equivalentKnowledge and Experience: · An understanding of child development and the needs of young children· Experience in work with young children in a variety of settingsKey skills: · Good communicator· Ability to build positive relationships with staff and children· Punctual, reliable and hardworking· Motivated to inspire the children’s learning· To recognise the importance of keeping confidentiality· A team player and good sense of humour essential!A completed application form must be submitted.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:Discounted or free foodOn-site parkingSchedule:Monday to FridayExperience:Teaching Assistants: 1 year (preferred)Application deadline: 11/03/2022Reference ID: Teaching Assistant (KS1 / Lower KS2)Expected start date: 19/04/2022
