Job Description : Assistant Psychologists x2 – Older Adults and Neuropsychology : 37.5 hours/week : Fixed term 12 months
A vacancy has arisen in the Department of Psychological Services and Research for two Assistant Psychologists to work within our Older Adults and Neuropsychology specialty. Applications are invited from enthusiastic and energetic individuals to support Consultants, Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists in providing evidence-based psychological interventions for older adults with psychological difficulties in Dumfries and Galloway. The post will primarily involve:Assistance in the provision of low level individual and Group interventions run as part of the Older Adult Psychology service
Assistance with auditing and researching the outcomes of the OA serviceProvision of input to specialist Dementia services within the OA team under the supervision of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist team.
The post-holder will liaise appropriately with colleagues and members of the wider multi-disciplinary teams under line management and supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. There is protected CPD and supervision time.
The department has a complement of over 80 staff and offers a supportive environment for assistants and psychological therapists who are looking to initiate or develop their skills and extend their experience and scope of practice in recognised psychological therapies.
The Department has Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists in all major specialities and it is a friendly, supportive and lively place to work. All our staff are co-located in the same building and have close links with other teams in mental health and CAMHS. We have strong links with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling Universities and take trainees from both Clinical Psychology and Masters courses. We also provide placements and supervision for CBT Therapists.
Dumfries & Galloway is situated in the South West of Scotland and you can reach Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Carlisle or even Belfast from our region. Dumfries and Galloway offers a lively and friendly atmosphere as well as easy access to outdoor space, the Solway Coast, many Lochs and the Southern Upland way as well as many historic and beautiful locations in between.
Flexible working arrangements may be considered to allow for a blended approach of home and office working, depending on service or clinical need.
