The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
The Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the inpatient services as a member of the Department of Anesthesiology located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Froedtert Hospital.
The APP functions as an intensivist within the Heart and Vascular ICU and manages all aspects of the assigned patient’s intensive care stay from admission to transfer. Medical Management with Cardiac Surgical, Patients and Advanced Heart Failure..

Primary Function/Responsibility
Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring critical care intervention in inpatient environment as a member of the Critical Care Anesthesiology Service.
Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the critical care services.
Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.

Preferred Schedule:

13-hour Shifts with rotational weekend, holiday and night coverage

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:
Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Minimum Requirements:
Advanced Practice Nurse
Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner
Wisconsin RN License
Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
Adult and Acute Care preferred; will consider FNP or Geriatric
AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA
Physician Assistant
Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
Certification by NCCPA
AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA
Preferred Experience:
2+ years’ experience as an APP and/or RN in Critical Care and/or Cardiac
Mechanical Circulatory Support Experience (preferred)
Multiple high acuity/ICU rotations for PA
