An exciting opportunity to work in Cornwall Foundation NHS Trust’s Centre for Mental Health and Justice. This 8A Clinical/ Applied Psychology post involves delivering and coordinating clinical services to the Community Forensic Service. The post is held within the Centre for Mental Health and Justice which delivers four strands of clinical activity including the Probation focussed Offender Personality Disorder pathway, the Homelessness Vulnerability Liaison Service, the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service and the Forensic Service.
Cornwall’s Community Forensic Team is a well-established service aiming to support the transitions of people subject to Sections 37 and 41 of the Mental Health Act through the secure care pathway and ensure safe and supported re-entry into the community. The multi-disciplinary team includes Psychiatry, Nursing, Social Work and Psychology. The Team assertively reaches into specialist secure care placements to develop working relationships with Service Users and clinical teams so that transitions of care are as smoothly managed as possible. Service users in the community are supported intensively, with Clinical Psychology forming an integrated part of the support and risk management plan.
The Community Forensic Team aims to support other services and agencies to manage the risk of harm to others by delivering a Consultation Clinic and Pathway, which will be coordinated by the successful applicant. This pathway involves delivering a range of mental health, adjustment, personality and offending behaviour assessments to service users who’s care is managed by other services of the Trust and sometimes beyond. The work is challenging and interesting, calling on the full breadth of an Applied Psychologists skillset.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the wide range of activities of the Centre, including service evaluation projects, service development, risk management training and Multi-Agency Public Protection work. Applications are invited from those operating at Band 8A currently and those with relevant experience at Band 7.
To achieve our Trust objectives, we prioritise the development of our staff. To support this, the following opportunities are available:
Protected CPD time for registered staff
Access to a dedicated central development fund supporting CPD for all staff
Leadership and Management development programmes
Coaching and mentoring opportunities

Free DBS checks where required
Discounts available from retailers, UK hotels and main attractions
