Children’s Neurodevelopmental Service (Autism and ADHD)

Band 7 development post or 8a

Recent investment and promotion in our service has created some exciting opportunities for psychologists who looking to work with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions. Depending on the post holders’ current level of experience and training there will be a bespoke and structured competency and training programme developed with them to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfill their role.

We are looking for a motivated and committed psychologist for a Band 8a post, or to apply as a Band 7 development post with the opportunity to progress to a Band 8a, via a supported process of professional development. We can offer flexibility in terms of working patterns, hours and location across Coventry and Warwickshire some of which can be virtual. In addition, the Neurodevelopmental Service is part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (RISE) and there is opportunity to work in more than one service according to areas of interest and expertise.

The Neurodevelopmental Service is heavily invested in providing high quality services. The postholder will work within our evidence-based pathways to deliver young-person focused assessment and clinically effective interventions for children and young people referred for autism and ADHD. Successful applicants will work within a supportive and proactive environment, we have a strong commitment to clinical supervision and there are opportunities for continuing professional development and training in line with service objectives.

The post-holder will join a large established group of psychologists and work as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes Paediatrics, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychiatry, Neurodevelopmental Practitioners and Occupational Therapy. This is a dynamic role and the post-holder may work within community settings such as schools, clinics and family homes. We are also offering virtual appointments.

As part of the wider Learning Disability and Autism Directorate within the Trust the service offers a strong commitment to clinical supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and there are many opportunities for career development within the service.

The service received an overall rating of Good by the CQC and an Outstanding for care and compassion of which we are rightly proud. We have also been recognised both locally and nationally by receiving awards for the services we provide.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust provides a full range of expanding physical, mental health and learning disability services to children, young adults, adults and older adults over many sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.

Services are provided to a population of over one million people living in Coventry and Warwickshire and also a wider geographical area in some of our specialist services, we see on average around 5,000 patients every day.

Applicants will need to have a keen interest in developing new or existing skills in the use of diagnostic assessments for Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Experience of working with this population, either in children or adult services would be desirable however, interest and enthusiasm for working with neurodiverse children and young people is essential. The post also offers opportunities to contribute to service transformation and innovation, we have excellent links with local DClinPsy training programmes with current staff regularly providing teaching and placements and can provide the development of leadership skills through in-service experience and training.

Travel is an integral part of this post and the post-holder will be a car owner/driver, or have suitable alternative transport to meet the needs of the post (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement). This post is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure at ‘Enhanced’ level.
