Job Description : DevOps Engineer – Hybrid / Cheshire – AWS, Continuous Integration, TerraformMy client is recruiting for a DevOps Engineer to support our growing, complex application estate. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the deployment, configuration, scaling and monitoring of the application portfolio. You will be the only DevOps consultant in the business and will be responsible for adopting the DevOps practise. Half of the eight applications are set up with CI/CD pipelines in place, but you will establish this across the application estate and be responsible for embedding DevOps culture across the business.The role will report to the Head of Development and will be 2 days a week in Cheshire with the rest of the week remote if required.Typical Work ActivitiesBuild & Deployment automationInfrastructure scalingApplication configurationMigrating applications to HA configurationsDatabase deploymentLoad testing and capacity planningApplication monitoringIncident investigationBe a self-starter, self-motivated, and driven – you’ll push us forward and bring your ideas and excitement to the teamEssential Skills/ExperienceMinimum of 2 years of commercial DevOps Engineer experienceA strong working knowledge of AWS, and/or current certification on AWS cloud such asAWS Certified Cloud PractitionerAWS Certified Solutions ArchitectAWS Certified DevOps EngineerA background in automating application deployment and configuration managementIn-depth experience of CI tools – such as Gitlab/Bamboo etcExperience with Terraform and/or AWS CDKKnowledge of GITIn-depth experience maintaining database servers – including Aurora, Cassandra, Elasticache (Redis), Postgres, Redshift etc.Knowledge of Java ecosystem – how applications are deployed, and configuration of servlet containersStrong Linux Sysadmin skillsFamiliarity with Python application deployment – WSGI, PIP, VirtualEnvScripting Skills – Bash, PythonGood knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes / Openshift etcGood knowledge of internet communication concepts and protocols – TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPAn awareness of security considerations in web application deploymentMonitoring / Logging e.g. ELK, Datadog, Prometheus / Grafana etcThe client is looking to pay £55,000 – £65,000 and a great benefits package including training, life assurance, pension, and other great benefits.
