The Marketing-Communications team seeks an experienced digital writer to help create and manage different types of materials for our online audience. You will write, create, develop and drive our brand voice through authentic storytelling with a focus on the Thornton Tomasetti website and other marketing pursuits. You’re comfortable researching, validating, and developing clear and compelling copy with a technical subject matter and ensuring it is optimized for an online audience that incorporates SEO best practices. You have the ability to understand the goals and messaging needs for a variety of digital marketing projects and can quickly craft custom copy to reach different audiences.
You will work with leaders from multiple areas of the organization and handle a wide variety of writing assignments. Responsibilities
Content creation across various platforms for an external audience, including project descriptions, blogs, marketing landing pages, service overviews, ad copy, brochures, email marketing, and other projects
Experienced in creating, editing, and proofreading technical subjects into informative, consumer-friendly, easy-to-read messages and narratives.
Skilled in balancing engaging content with SEO best practices where on-page/off-page optimization, cross-linking, page length, and quality are concerned
Assist in content strategy development and help strategize/develop new digital marketing initiatives that align with the firm’s strategic objectives
Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with senior management and with Marketing and Communications staff.
Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field, or comparable professional writing experience. 2-4 years experience.
Exceptional narrative storytelling skills with high standards in writing, proofreading, and editing. Visual storytelling skills are a plus.
Tech-savvy with the ability to explain complex technical matters in a simple manner
A champion of SEO/SEM best practices and optimization with experience in keyword and SERP research. Stays updated on SEO guidelines, and incorporates them into content on an ongoing basis
Familiar with the Chicago Style Manual.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effectively handles multiple time-sensitive requests; ability to adapt to different communication styles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams. Experience with HTML, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Adobe Suite (Photoshop and InDesign), and working with content management systems as WordPress and Drupal desired.
