Job Description : Oxford Innovation Advice (“OI Advice”) is a commercial organisation recognised as a market leading specialist in small business growth support and development in the UK.This is a great opportunity to lead the financial operations of our 110 strong team at OI Advice. With a hybrid-working approach, our friendly and well-connected team are geographically spread across the UK. Our three offices are located in central Oxford, Redruth and Melton Mowbray.OI Advice is the trading name of Oxford Innovation Services Ltd and part of the broader Oxford Innovation set of companies, which themselves sit with SQW Group. Reporting to the CFO of SQW Group and working very closely with OI Advice’s Managing Director, you will be a key part of the company’s Management Board and manage the geographically spread finance team.You will build on existing strong financial controls and continue to evolve processes within a company that is constantly changing as a result of the blend of programmes it operates. You will manage risks and opportunities through close relationships with senior staff across the programmes and be a commercial and strategic thinker. Working closely with the finance and operational teams, you will continue to develop both internal and external reporting processes. In addition to company responsibilities, as part of SQW Group, you will also work with group finance team colleagues and need to meet group, as well as company, reporting requirements. You will also manage budget and reforecasting processes and deliver proactive cashflow management for OI Advice.As Director of Finance, you will also work alongside the business development team on bids – to include developing financial models for bid submissions. You will ensure all grant claims and forecasts are submitted on a timely basis in compliance with funding agreements, current funding guidance and technical specifications. This will involve working closely with experienced project accountants across the company and regular close liaison with funding authorities and internal programme managers. You will be responsible for the annual audit process, statutory accounts finalization with auditors and all statutory submissions required to HMRC.The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience (ideally to include working in a service industry at a senior level) or strong QBE. You will have a professional manner, be an effective communicator and have strong management skills. Experience of working in a complex grant-funded environment and familiarity with public, as well as private, sector contracts would be an advantage.
