Functional Description:
Global Commercial Services is a core operating group within American Express and has delivered robust growth over the past decade. GCS serves small, medium, and large business clients and helps them manage their cash flows and increase their profitability through a variety of products.
The Director role is within the Global Commercial Services Credit Risk Management team reporting into the VP of US Commercial Customer Management. The selected candidate will lead a team of experienced risk professionals responsible for managing the Authorizations strategy for US Corporate Card portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Drive excellence in core Authorizations controls by reducing unprofitable disruptions, especially for low-risk strategic segments, while minimizing losses from defaulters
Close collaboration with customer management functional partners to profitably manage and maximize customer relationships by communicating credit concerns prior to POS action, thereby reducing surprise
Effectively manage abuse risk for GCG/LM Portfolio
Leverage obligor level internal & external early warning indicators to effectively manage the exposure on associated products through Auth controls
Ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulatory, audit and oversight requirements
Continuously monitor portfolio performance and effectively partner with cross functional partners, decision science and other teams to enhance the credit controls as needed
Lead, engage, and inspire a team of high performing risk management professionals
Seasoned risk management professional with experience in managing credit risk of commercial portfolios
Ability to provide structure in ambiguity, excel in a dynamic and complex environment, and deliver under tight deadlines.
Superior thought leadership, problem-solving, and advanced analytical skills
Self-starter, results-driven, intellectually curious personality
Excellent, effective written and oral communication
Advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, operations research, mathematics, data science preferred
Prior people leadership experience preferred
Expert with SAS, SQL
Acquaintance with HIVE, Pyspark, Python is a plus
