It’s a pleasure to be working with such a business, one with a great reputation and retention with its employees.Job SpecificationRole Title – Engineering & Asset Manager Key purposeEnsuring day to day Production equipment is operationally functional and safe for use.All equipment parts are stored and ready for use through the stock system.All Departmental staff are trained capable of routine Maintenance and to identify root cause issues of equipment failure and repair.Input into longer-term site Efficiency plans and implementation.Reports directly to the Director & General Manager, with over 40 Direct Reports. Supports all Departments regarding equipment and improvements in processes.There are over 140 staff on-site and this role works closely with HR on people management.Job DimensionsConstantly aware and reacting 24 / 7 / 365 of site situation and Equipment performance, personal, safety etc issues. Escalation and resolution of same.Identifying improvement opportunities, reviewing with the Director & General Manager and driving these through.Owning the Engineering budget and being accountable for driving through and improving upon this during the course of the year.Responsible for setting up six monthly Targeted Quality Improvement Plans (TIPS) and organising the meeting/outcomes.Key responsibilities and accountabilitiesSafety Health and Environment:Support all safety, health and environment activities within the Engineering areas of the site ensuring conformance to both group standards and legal requirements at all times.Ensure improvements in operational systems and ISO standards to reduce lost time to accidentsEnsure all equipment is maintained and serviced to manufacturers’ specifications including workshop machinery.Issue work permits for all external contractors working on site for support.Quality:Direct standardisation of key work processes and validate complianceEnsure quality systems are in place to review and address all quality issues in order to meet contractual and business requirementsDrive and monitor improvement in equipment output to ensure the maximum equipment output rate is consistently achieved in order to generate maximum production capacity.Continuously review all process waste to reduce/control and ensure equipment waste levels are in line with customer Service Level Agreements and equipment specificationsCustomers:Ensure schedules and workloads are balanced in line with the maintenance plan.Provide coordination between shifts to ensure effective customer liaison.Direct and lead improvement in site perception both within and outside business whilst developing effective relationships with all suppliers and DepartmentsAttend all operational meetings to support DepartmentsSupport the facilities contractors with information and Purchase orders.Cost:Direct and manage shift based labour costs both internal and external to minimise expenditure and reduce unit costDirect and oversee selection of suppliers and monitor expenditure against budget for all engineering consumablesReview all financial information for Engineering areas to identify potential improvement opportunitiesSubmit and Manage Engineering Annual budget and review with Finance on a monthly basisManage stores purchasing through Eriks to ensure the best parts at the best priceEnsure all purchasing records are filed and auditedPeople:Ensure that all levels of staff are recruited, trained/ developed and motivated to improve performance.Develop good working relationships with all employee groups to maintain effective industrial relationsDrive commonality and standardisation of people management across shifts to ensure effective utilisation of all available manpower and address any issues impacting operational performance.Taking accountability for the fair and consistent application of all our people’s policies, procedures and processes.Fostering a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and having in-the-moment performance discussions.Developing a culture of trust, where people are safe to speak up, clear on their role in the team’s success and empowered to be their best at work.Rewarding and recognising great performance, celebrating people’s achievements and successes.Ensuring the continued development of team members, supporting them to reach their full potential.Partnering with our HR team to attract, develop and maintain the best talent to help the business achieve its goals, now and in the future.
