Job Description : Are you an experienced developer looking at taking the next step in your career? Join Macquarie’s Technology team and lead a small team of Data Engineers to develop innovative solutions for one of Macquarie’s most successful business. As part of our inclusive and supportive team you’ll play a pivotal role in realising our our vision to become a fully automated, self-service infrastructure provider, focused on excellent customer outcomes.
Our goal is to help our users unlock the full potential of their data by delivering high quality data products and as a lead developer, you will be accountable for end-to-end solution delivery. Your work will be wide ranging and include everything from solution design, data modelling and development. You’ll also be responsible for designing and developing scalable Big Data solutions and supervising junior developers, helping them overcome challenges and reviewing their code to ensure it meets quality standards. You’ll be working closely with the Security, Business Resilience, Risk and Architecture teams to ensure solutions meet architectural standards as well as security and resiliency requirements.
In addition to this, you will build data pipelines and ETL using heterogeneous sources to Hadoop using Kafka, Flume, Sqoop, Spark Streaming etc. You’ll be managing the data pipelines and delivering enhancements to solve technical issues and provide technical support and guidance to business users.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring the following technical skills and experience:
Knowledge of Big data technologies including Spark, HDFS and Hive
5+ years of experience working in Hadoop Ecosystem and big data technologies with 12+ years of software development experience
Experience reading and writing Spark transformation jobs using Java, Scala (Preferably in Java)
Experience with Hadoop, Spark
Knowledge of the core AWS services (S3, IAM, EC2, ELB, CloudFormation)
Understanding of Linux and networking concepts
Understanding of data architecture principles, including data access patterns and data modelling
Extensive data modelling experience
Experience working in an Agile environment
Experience with CI/CD tools.
