Job Description : This purpose driven responsible investor is currently looking for an exceptional Head of Employer Management Services, to lead their Employer Management Services team. This dynamic position requires the ability to think critically, anticipate needs, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The role would suit a qualified Accountant with an audit background, together with strong relationship or consulting skills and, preferably, pensions knowledge.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Funding & Risk Director this key role will the lead the Employer Management Services team by delivering a high-quality employer service that reflects the integrity and professionalism of the organisation
Lead a small team (of 2) to deliver service to employers across three main areas:
Engagement – improving relationships with employers and representing the Company for the benefit of employers and the Fund.
Covenant – identifying, assessing, and managing risks that could threaten an employer’s ability to contribute to the Fund.
Operations – facilitating the pensions aspects of employer-related activities including accounting disclosures, mergers, outsourcings, admissions, cessations.
Develop and enhance the Company’s professional relationships with employers by delivering work in accordance with internal targets and by communicating consistent messages and principles.
Lead on negotiations with senior employer stakeholders when discussing employer covenant, contributions, security, and other risk matters.
Recommend appropriate courses of action in relation to emerging employer matters, taking into account a professional evaluation of the benefits and risks to the Company
Develop and maintain fund policies on employer related processes as required.

Experience & Qualifications

A relevant accountancy qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CIPFA).
Experience of working as a pensions covenant professional, auditor, restructuring professional, or other role involving critical assessment of organisations’ financial position.
Energetic, proactive and self-motivated individual who is confident multi-tasker with a focus on improving outcomes wherever possible.
Knowledge and experience of assessing the financial strength of organisations
Collaborative and outcome-focussed attitude
Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences with very different levels of understanding.
A team player who has integrity, professionalism and the desire to make a difference.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
Excellent numerical, analytical and report writing skills.
A full understanding of risk management principles.
Ability to engage with, and influence, senior finance, legal and actuarial professionals.
Experience of challenging senior leadership on financial matters.
Experience of working within regulatory frameworks.
An ability to deliver work to demanding deadlines
Understanding of the principles of employer covenant assessment in the context of pension schemes
