The Role
We’ve invested £40m into the creation of our Advanced Research and Engineering Centre in Belfast, part funded by Invest NI. We’re creating a team of engineers and technologists who’ll work within a bigger innovation ecosystem, including government, University academia and business, to help our clients take giant leaps, rather than incremental steps.
This role sits within our Advanced Research and Engineering Centre, based in Belfast, delivering pivotal breakthroughs to uncover the next generation of operational technology. As part of a team of innovative thinkers, you’ll work together to design solutions that will define the next decade and beyond.

As Head of Software Engineering, responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the design and engineering of new software products.
Heading up new greenfield projects using the latest technologies in an exciting period of change and growth.
Working with Architects to turn their blueprints into a robust platform of reusable digital capabilities.
Managing software development across multiple Scrum teams, using your broad experience to guide the ways in which teams work.
Working closely with the department leads in the production and growth of a suite of high quality products.
Working closely with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
Utilising your experience in design and technical development in areas such as Full Stack development, Systems Integration, Rules engines, Workflow, Information Security, RPA, Data & Analytics.
Setting the strategy and managing resource allocation.
Being an advocate for using the latest technologies.
Providing technical leadership by coaching and mentoring developers.
Testing and maintaining software products to ensure strong functionality and optimisation.
Skills and experience
Significant experience at a senior level leading multiple software engineering teams.
Demonstrable leadership, mentoring and coaching experience.
Experience in the following:
Hands-on experience with at least one coding language. Preferably Python, Java, Angular/React or C#.
Designing, testing and maintaining applications in an agile environment.
Latest CI/CD techniques.
API’s and associated tools.
Data storage technologies.
Javascript frameworks.
Cloud platforms.
