About the role
Our Data and Analytics Team is seeking a Lead Analytics & Data Engineer to help architect and build our data pipelines and machine learning capability. This is an exciting greenfields role with the opportunity to be involved in building a new foundational capability right from the beginning as well as providing technical leadership and helping the broader business to leverage data.
You are a data engineering expert with extremely strong software engineering skills who is eager to lead and pave the path for your team. You have strong experience with modern data warehousing tools & models, building batch & real-time data pipelines, knowledge of machine learning tools and data science workflows and love working with data analysts & product managers to take ideas into production at scale. You are a great communicator who is able to work with people from across the organisation to understand their challenges and come up with data driven solutions.
Your mission
Understand Ailo’s business and being able to think through the challenges we face and look for ways to leverage data to solve it
Lead components of the design, implementation and management of data analytics and machine learning engineering capability across Ailo
Drive the development and implementation of the Ailo data engineering roadmap
Collaborate with DevOps, Product Managers and Software Engineers to architect an integrated app-to-analytics pipeline.
Champion quality standards for data accuracy and best use practices.
Contribute to the development of analytics & data science tools that enable machine learning at scale.
Lead the team of data engineers and analysts to deliver data driven solution for the business internally and externally
Your capability
Strong software engineering knowledge and data pipelines experience
Hands on experience building end to end production grade data analytics and machine learning pipelines in a cloud environment (preferably AWS)
Detailed knowledge of big data storage options and their tradeoffs (object storage, data warehouse, NoSQL etc)
Strong domain knowledge of data modelling and data science workflows
Experience building or working with machine learning feature stores and/or model stores
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross functional teams (both technical and non-technical)
Strong SQL and Python (Pandas, Numpy) knowledge. Functional programming (Scala etc) experience is highly regarded. Experience with dbt is a plus.
Expertise in one or more streaming technologies (Kafka / Pubsub / Kinesis etc) highly desirable
Devops experience CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, Docker etc. a distinct advantage
Experience leading a team is a plus
