What is the primary need, technical challenge and/or problem you will be responsible for?
You will be part of Developer and App Platform (DAP) Engineering Team, working as automation engineer with a focus on a developing and maintaining CI pipeline responsible for shipping our product with quality. We are looking for a passionate and experienced engineer who has proven experience with Continuous Integration systems, test automation and automation test framework. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performing team and gain experience with cutting-edge tools and technologies.
The ideal candidate will have experience with automated test infrastructure development, execution and maintenance of CI pipeline which includes automated test failure debugging, fixing issues and reporting test results. Experience in developing automation libraries for CI pipeline; knowledge of Kubernetes, Jenkins, Concourse is must; experience with Golang is desirable.
Within the first 6-12 months, what are the 2-3 most important performance goals (described as SMART Goals if possible) I would be expected to complete for you to consider me successful in this role?
You will be expected to:
Develop libraries and tools to implement automation test infrastructure.
Implement and maintain automated CI pipeline.
Execute automated tests on CI pipeline.
Support Tanzu Network hosting solution by code enhancement and maintenance activity
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
In addition to what’s implied in the goals above, the below tasks are representative of your day-to-day
Bug fixing Ruby on Rails based applications
Troubleshoot issues pertaining to CI pipeline and fix them.
Own CI pipeline outcome; debug failures; successful root cause analysis of failures.
Report observed product issues and work with developers to resolve the same.
Understand automation challenges and implement solutions or tools to resolve.
Collaborate with team members, technical leads to identify and resolve issues.
Continuous enhancement of the CI as product requirement changes.
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager of the Engineering Ops team within the DAP Productivity Engineering Organisation in Modern Apps and Management Business Group who is keen to share the specifics of program with you.
