Position :

Job Description : The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the outpatient services as a member of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
The APP will have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care.
The Advanced Practice Nurse will provide a variety of therapeutic activities including psychiatric medication evaluation, prescribing and medication management, individual therapies to patients as directed by a licensed physician and in accordance with clinic and institutional policies and procedures. Programmatic activities include but are not limited to assistance with covering medication refill requests, learner education and training as time and interest allow pursuit of research interests as time and interest allow, etc.
Physician Assistant
Provides specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/CSG policies and procedures.

Workweek:
Scheduling flexibility required to provide for an appropriate level of patient care coverage. May require evening or weekend hours in the future based on business needs.
Standard clinic hours are 8am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. Clinic schedule expectations include late afternoon appointments.

Core Responsibilities
Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring DEPARTMENT intervention in outpatient environment as a member of the Child and Adolescent Division.
Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Child and Adolescent Division services.
Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission.
Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.

Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician Assistant
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
Prior Experience:
Zero years of experienced required
Preferred Experience:
Master’s Degree preferred. One or more years of experience in a pediatric psychiatric and/or pediatric behavioral health setting preferred. Prior knowledge of psychopharmacology preferred.
