They perform an important role caring for children, maintaining a high-quality, stimulating learning environment, working as a team and imparting their knowledge and skills to others. They are creative and reflective practitioners able to implement new ideas and use a range of strategies to continually improve practice and support their room leader.Purpose of post: ü Ensuring a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for children in the nursery.ü To support the aims and objectives of the nursery and assist the proprietor in the organisation of a high-quality establishment for children from 0 years to 5 years.ü To provide high standards of childcare and education – this includes providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.Main Duties: To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery.To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors.To ensure the provision of high standards of physical and emotional care.To work with a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times.To contribute to the planning of the environment.To ensure that admission forms and “all about me” profiles are filed appropriately in key children’s folders.To work as a key worker as well as being responsible for the presentation of the activities for all children.To assist with the daily risk assessment.All key children’s portfolios are checked and observations are carried out and recorded correctly with the date and time.Update all key children’s folders and trackingResponsible for planning to include evaluation and observation of children, planning to meet the EYFS.To make sure that materials are complete and are cleaned weekly.To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in theworkplace, ensuring Setting policies and procedures are observed at all timesTo ensure the setting of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual childrenfrom differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development;Ensure child is collected by someone known to SettingTo make sure that resources and materials are being used effectively.To ensure that each morning that the classroom is set up and all materials and furniture is to be put away at the end of the day. Check for cleanliness, including toilets and checklist in place.The organisation of the environment to include the classroom and outdoor areas are met. To organise the space and resources to meet the children’s needs effectively and that the adult child ratio is being met. To provide a calm working environment.Ensure support is offered during mealtimes.To be aware and make aware of any children who may have special needs, ensure appropriate action is taken where such a child is identified.To be aware of all the policies and procedures of the nursery to include confidentiality, managing behaviour, child protection, health & safety.To work in partnership with parents and to meet the needs of the children both individually and as a group and to deal with parent’s concerns effectively.To make sure that visitors sign in and out in the visitors bookTo make sure that the register is updated on duty and monitor children sign in.To record any accidents/incidents – making sure that parents sign itOn nappy changing duty – to record and document.To produce typed end of term reports for all key children.To report any concerns promptly to your Manager or Area Manager.To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key workerLook upon the setting as a “whole” where can your help can be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of childrenTo be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings,fundraising eventsTo be flexible within working practices of the setting.
