ABOUT THE OPERATIONS IT TEAM
Operations IT is a global IT capability supporting the Global Operations organisation. We business partner with Operations capability areas: Pharmaceutical Technology Development, Manufacturing & Global Engineering, Quality Control, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Logistics and Global External Sourcing and Procurement. THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL DO
The BA/PM/Scrum Hybrid will use their IT expertise, bio-pharma industry trends and in-depth understanding of AZ business priorities to lead the functional/capability IT/Digital strategy development, investment planning, and
delivery. They will own the overall portfolio and lead one or a set of interrelated major global projects/programmes. The role maintains project accountability, from initiation to close, to deliver effective solutions that meet approved customer and business needs. The role is accountable for determining and
delivering solutions to approved budget and schedule commitments whilst meeting required quality and compliance standards. Focus areas include stakeholder management (varies by organization), risk management
and delivery of business benefit. This role is also required to follow established project management standards and lead / contribute to continued development of the project / programme management capability.Provide thought leadership to develop the business strategy, define the technology direction, and own the
IT/Digital strategy and roadmap.Partner with the business to develop clear business cases and investment proposals linked to business and IT
outcomesSupport the collation and own the prioritization of portfolio, balancing priorities and IT/Operations strategic
principles and governanceDrive the collation of information from relevant sources for analysis and trends for informed decision making, using a
high degree of domain area knowledge and expertise.Oversee, drive and approve plans for projects / programmes, including activities, resources, costs, roles,
responsibilities and quality as defined in the IT Project Management Methodology (ADF) using waterfall and
scaled Agile.Manage and coordinate interdependencies between projects and programme workstreams (intra-program,
across capability portfolio and across global and site IT).Manage relationships with senior business stakeholders to ensure the effective capturing of business
requirements and commitment to project/program objectives. Responsible for leading steering / stakeholder
meetings, communication of status, issues, risks.Drive effective risks & issues management, ensuring governance processes are in place and effectively used.
Ensure risks are mitigated, and issues are resolved and escalated as appropriate.Build a cohesive project /programme team and provide the leadership necessary to maximize the team’s
success.Manage and coordinate project / programme budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, change management,
and status to support effective decisions and project reporting to stakeholders and review boards.Own project / programme improvement plans and oversee execution of remediation plans.Manage changes to project/programme scope, ensuring that all impacts and changes are approved and
appropriately communicated to stakeholders and review boards.Assure / develop service transition plans to ensure project delivered solutions are sustainable within a BAU
operations environment, including controlled hand-over into operational support
. Maintain a strong partnership with the Scaled Delivery team throughout project to BAU.
. Ensure the project team adheres to all standards including ADF, quality, and compliance, as well as processes, defined technical capabilities, and best practices
. Establish program governance and lead Decision Point reviews; program governance and Sponsor 1:1 meetings.Ensure expected benefits realization is consistent with project deliverables and clearly understood by stakeholders and project team.
Support / lead development of a world-class centre of excellence for project management capabilities and ensure that best practice is adopted and reinforced.
Typical project / programme accountability: costs greater than $1m, and a project team greater than 15 people.
Coach and manage others in the team to successfully deliver projects using both waterfall and agile delivery.
Works collaboratively with:
o Across all AZ IT to ensure proper partnership, resource capacity planning, and service level reviews. Regular engagement and escalation paths set.
o AZ Senior/executive stakeholders to ensure understanding and commitment to programme objectives, and development and refinement of deliverables
o Key business stakeholders to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and commitment to project/programme objectives
o Supplier Management and Procurement functions to manage delivery of medium to large sized external supplier contracts
o Internal and External Suppliers to ensure delivery of agreed products and services while ensuring adherence to AZ project delivery standards
YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE
Education, Qualifications and Experience
EssentialTechnical or Business Degree or proven relevant experienceProven skills and experience managing and controlling large project and programme budgets.Experience managing and leading global project teamsEvidence of shaping innovative solutions that have
a major impact within the business area and organisationExperience working in a global organization where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed.
48+ months of proven relevant experience as a PM or equivalent role
Desirable
Masters degree in relevant technical or business areaProject / Programme Management certificationsAgile, Lean & Six Sigma based certifications
