Department Overview

Payment Operations is responsible for managing day to day operations for Wells Fargo payment products such as ACH/Faster Payments, ECS Payables and Receivables, Lockbox Operations, and Wire Transfer Operations. This is accomplished through a drive for a company-wide approach to payments, modernizing the payments platforms, implementing appropriate governance and controls, and acting as a central point of ownership for the financial market utilities.

About the Role (Role Outline) -Lead Analytics Consultant- Payment Analytics

The role of lead analytic consultant requires managing one or many functional lines in Payment Area of the business to support modeling, reporting and advanced analytics through multiple teams. The key requirement for the role is the ability to understanding the business objectives, formulating the analytic solution and execute/ implement to deliver the solution. The role will be required to work hands on to improve data quality, measurements, reporting, adhoc analysis, predictive and prescriptive analytics. The role should be able to provide thought leadership to guide the team as well as deliver hands- on work. Should provide mentoring, coaching to team members and create positive work culture. Should be proactive in identifying opportunities through payment journeys on establishing enhanced operational control, manage risk and improve governance. The role will require experience in data and advanced analytics – more preferably with a specific background in payments data and formats.

Responsibilities
Providing business and technical leadership to develop analytics team delivering across multiple functions within Payment functional areas
Responsible for maintaining partner relationships, ensuring high quality team deliverables and SLAs
Working closely with the US partners on daily basis, interacting closely with multiple business partners anchor program managers
Work independently, foster a culture of healthy and efficient working for the team
Designing and solving complex business problems by analytical techniques and tools
Will be involved directly in the technical build-out and/or support of databases, query tools, reporting tools, BI tools, dashboards, automation etc. that enable analysis, modeling, and/or advanced data visualization including development of Business Objects/ Tableau reports using multiple databases
Recommends potential data sources; compiles and mines data from multiple, cross business sources.
Works with typically very large data sets, both structured and unstructured, and from multiple sources
Develops specific, customized reports, ad hoc analyses and/or data visualizations, formatted with business user-friendly techniques to drive adoption, such as (1) Excel macros/pivoting/filtering, (2) PowerPoint slides and presentations, and (3) clear verbal and e-mail communications
Works with senior consultants or directly with partners, responsible for identifying and defining business requirements and translating business needs into moderately complex analyses and recommendations.
Works with local and international colleagues and with internal customers, responsible for identifying and defining business requirements and catering to business needs for the team
Collaborate with internal teams and participate in knowledge exchange and organization initiatives
Ensures adherence to data management/data governance regulations and policies
Identify analytics opportunities and drive business efficiencies and growth through advanced analytics / Machine Learning/ AI based projects
Apply machine learning techniques to identify patterns and recognition such as Fraud/Anomaly detection, Loss prediction/Forecasting etc. and drive value to the business
Applies knowledge of business, customers, and/or products/services/portfolios to synthesize data to ‘form a story’ and present key project findings/ insights it to leadership
Ability to work overlap hours with US team
Shift 1:30-10:30 pm
Essential skills qualifications:
8-10 years of reporting experience, advanced analytics experience, or a combination of both; or a MS/MA degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Physics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Sciences, or Business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis
8+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Modeling, Forecasting, Decision Trees, Text Analytics, Clustering, Anomaly Detection/ Fraud analytics as well as other statistical /ML and performance analytics
8+ years of experience with SAS, SQL, Tableau, R/Python or other data management, reporting, and query tools
6+ years of experience in developing and creating BI dashboards and data visualization, working on end to end reports, deriving insights from data
6+ years of experience in descriptive, diagnostics and predictive analytics
Partner Management experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment.
Knowledge of an environment that utilizes large relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, or Teradata
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skill
Desired Skills
Languages: T-SQL, PL/SQL, SAS, R/Python
BI Tools: Oracle BI, SSRS, Tableau
ML Techniques: Logistic Regression. Random Forest, Clustering, Support Vector Machine, Time Series etc.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Payment Analytics experience is preferred
Understanding Financial products, systems, and platforms
Applications: MS Office (Access, Excel, Word), SharePoint
