Careem’s Corporate Affairs team works to protect and enhance the company’s reputation while building and strengthening collaborative relationships with governments across the region. The team’s Policy Analyst helps ensure all advocacy efforts are well supported by research, data analysis and a regionally nuanced understanding of complex global issues.

ABOUT THE CORPORATE AFFAIRS TEAM

The Corporate Affairs team protects and enhances Careem’s reputation while building mutually beneficial partnerships with governments across the region. We engage a diverse and growing mix of stakeholders including Customers, regulators, partners, entrepreneurs, captains, colleagues and the general public. We develop strategies to connect all stakeholders to Careem’s journey and build lasting relationships.

Formed by policy, communication, social impact and creative specialists spread across nine cities in six countries, the team is driven by a mission to simplify lives, inspire the technology ecosystem and advance development across the region. The Corporate Affairs team works closely with Careem’s leaders to create an enabling environment to build the most trusted technology platform in the wider Middle East. A strategic approach to engagement and an alignment of values are what makes this group effective.

JOB DIMENSIONS

The Policy Analyst serves as a thought partner to the VP of Corporate Affairs and operates like an internal think tank gathering and analysing information and insights from across the business as well as credible third parties. The Policy Analyst is responsible for diving deep into complex topics like sustainability, data protection, tax and employment policy to craft well-informed views on how Careem should engage regulators, policy makers and industry partners. The analyst will work with the VP of Corporate Affairs to help ensure all members of the Government Relations team are taking a data-driven approach to advocacy. He or she will follow relevant regulatory topics closely and help forecast likely changes in the regulatory landscape.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

Strong academic record and a demonstrated ability to produce policy white papers supported by primary and secondary source research
1.5-3 years of relevant experience. This could include work in strategy, management consulting, academia, lobbying or law.
Passionate about technology with a fervent belief that it has the potential to create substantial good in the world.
Outstanding writing ability that goes beyond fluency and encompases attention to detail, narrative development and the ability to distil complex ideas into accessible language.

Energetic and tenacious self-starter with an inner drive to proactively engage and follow up relentlessly to drive impact rather than output.

ADDITIONAL PREFERED ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

Experience working in advocacy efforts or political campaigns
Economic modelling experience
Additional relevant language skills (Urdu, Arabic or French)
Experience writing queries and building dashboards in SQL
