Front-end Engineer – Cloud Acceleration

What we’re looking for
We are looking for a front-end engineer who:
has extended experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, advanced React, Node and Webpack, and is curious enough to keep up with technologies like Next.js, Svelte, SWC or esbuild. A strong understanding of Python, Kubernetes, Go, Rust, Web Assembly and modern authentication will also be very useful
cares about developer experience and is genuinely interested in the product we are building, beyond just writing the code that makes it work
can communicate sensitively and clearly
enjoys introducing new creative ideas to improve the quality of the product and codebase
is comfortable being part of a small, autonomous, distributed team within an established market-leading software company
has a Bachelor’s Degree, Computer Science, MIS, Math, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, or related discipline

The Cloud Acceleration team is part of SAS Research and Development, focused on the exploration and adoption of the latest and greatest technologies. We’re building our Cloud platform of the future, with a strong focus on Observability, modern Developer Experience and Cloud Native deployment and operations.
What you’ll do
As a leading member of our front-end team, you will:
solve technical problems of the highest scope and complexity for your team
advocate for improvements to our code quality and front-end performance that have an impact across our entire product portfolio
help guide the definition and improvement of our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices, and maintain and advocate for these standards through constructive peer code review
experiment and drive innovation throughout our stack, blurring the architectural lines that currently separate front-end, back-end and compute
be willing to confront problems, and proactively seek out difficult impediments to our efficiency as a team
collaborate with platform API colleagues to design and consume network resources for minimal latency and optimal efficiency
help design, implement and maintain the appropriate unit, UI and integration tests
