Job Description : About the Role
The FinTech HYD team played a crucial role in supporting the IPO and continues to ensure Uber is financially compliant. This team is responsible to track all billions of dollars of money movements across all businesses globally via 100s of millions of events from 15+ upstream systems. This data is the source of truth to understand the business performance in various regions and to help Uber in making business decisions.
We are looking for a strong and passionate data engineer with experience in large-scale system implementation, with a focus on complex data pipelines. This is a very high-impact role that will provide a well-rounded perspective on the Finance Technologies at Uber and brings with it, the opportunity to collaborate and interact with a global cross-functional group. You will be a part of key initiatives like Daily Accounting Closes and Finance As A Service where you will work with major infrastructure teams at Uber.
You will be building High performance scalable applications. Apart from building scalable architectures, you will also work with Product Managers to understand the domain of Finance and the nuances of various business’s. FinTech is the backbone of Uber, and we are looking for experienced and motivated senior engineers who can make a difference and change the way FinTech works at Uber.
What You’ll Do:
Collaborate with engineering/product/analyst teams across tech sites to collectively accomplish OKRs to take Uber forward.
Enrich data layers to effectively deal with the next generation of products which are a result of Uber’s big bold bets.
Design and build data pipelines to schedule & orchestrate a variety of tasks such as extracting, cleansing, transforming, enrich & loading data as per the business needs.
If need be, Act as a Leader to drive big efforts in collaboration with other engineers or team members.
The candidate would be required to provide technical guidance to other team members.
What You’ll Need:
Strong SQL skills
Hadoop tech stack – Hive, Oozie, Airflow, MapReduce, Spark, etc.
Programming languages – Python, Java, Scala, etc.
Experience with large-scale data warehousing architecture and data modeling.
Experience building high-quality end-to-end data solutions in an agile environment from requirements to production.
Experience in building ETL Data Pipelines
Strong in Data Warehousing concepts
Performance Troubleshooting and Tuning
Should be self-motivated and passionate about bringing efficiency into the system through optimizations.
Should be able to set the standard for other engineers by proposing and driving innovative ideas.
Experience in mentoring junior team members technically.
If need be, Act as a Leader to drive big efforts in collaboration with other engineers or team members.
