About the role

The senior Infrastructure engineer is ultimately responsible to the Systems Delivery Manager for the health of all Careem managed IT systems.

The senior Infrastructure engineer will be responsible for the day to day running of the infrastructure, incident management and the ongoing design and implementation of Infrastructure changes and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

The role of IT infrastructure Lead is to Plan, design and deploy IT infrastructure services and systems, voice and data network, monitor and maintain databases and end to end support communication capabilities (LAN & WAN).
Develop and maintain policies and procedures, ensuring projects are completed within budget guidelines and maintain best practices.
Providing 1st line support to all the systems hosted in the Careem Datacenter.
Plan and budget for future IT requirements and procedures in terms of financial investments, timelines and resources.
Advise on the technical specification relating to the development or procurement of new information systems or ICT infrastructure, developing of Business Cases if appropriate.
To be responsible and accountable for network security; to actively review, monitor and improve network infrastructure security, undertake a regular programme of self-audit and base lining by utilizing the appropriate tools and in conjunction with formal audits as conducted by both Internal and external auditors.
To assist the Head of department – Places in developing long-term, strategic plans, for the development of the ICT requirements.
To be responsible and accountable for changes affecting the ICT infrastructure and that such changes take place in a controlled and auditable manner.
The Infrastructure Lead is also required to ensure continuous improvement and will be responsible for infrastructure projects.
Ensure that Careem and its Customer’s systems meet the required service levels for availability, performance and integrity.
Liaise between ICT Application Support, other directorates and external suppliers to resolve often highly technical or contentious issues and conflicts to ensure that projects and work packages are delivered on time and within budget.
The role involves interaction with Business departments as well as Project Management.
Ensure that new systems and changes to existing systems are designed, developed, deployed and managed ongoing adhering to I.T. best practice and internal standards to minimize risk to service levels.

Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
Qualification Required

Degree in computer science or similar discipline.

Desired Certifications:

Network + , CCNA, CCNP
MCITP
Security +
ITIL

Desired Skills:

Experience working within the industry is desirable
MDM (Mobile devices management)
Virtualization (VMWare)
Cloud computing (AWS, Azure)
LANs, WANs, TCP/IP protocol stack, Routing
Managing heterogeneous network environments

Experience Required

Must have knowledge and experience of Datacenter management , Windows client server based operating systems, Exchange Server, Unified communication family suites, LANs, WANs, Virtualization,TCP/IP protocol stack, Routing, SANs, SQL Server, network design, firewalls, Active Directory, Group Policy, 2 Factor authentication, encryption technologies, system monitoring and management, MDM solutions (AirWatch, GSuite) and EDR tools.
Exposure to VMware and all major virtualization infrastructure solutions. Exposure to Open Source technologies and cloud based IDP (OKTA or similar)
Customer interaction OMNI channel platforms (Genesys, VoIP systems), and strong understanding of voice infrastructures

Where you’ll be

This role is part of a remote distributed team! This means you can be based in any of the countries where we currently have an engineering site. If you would like to join us in Dubai, Berlin, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon or Jordan, that’s fine with us (Visa permitting)!
Even though we are working remotely, we are strong believers in collaboration and the power of building social connections with our teams. For that reason, our offices are still open and provide plenty of collaboration-friendly spaces at times when teams need it or if you need a quiet space to work outside of home.
You’ll be working in the location you’re hired from. Due to legal and compensation considerations, you will need to be based out of the country you’re hired from as your primary work location.
