Job Description
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to be the regional Leader in CSC, India for concept, design, build, integration and delivery of applications, tools, and utilities to deliver solutions for global and regional strategic initiatives between GFT and various businesses, technology, and operations teams within Product Control. Key aspects of role also include DevOps & Migration Tools, governance of coding disciple, and cloud migration in micro services architecture. The person is expected to lead a team of 40+ Engineers (Java, Data, Hadoop etc.), DevOps Engineers and UI specialists, Business Analysts to accomplish the following –
Understand the program level objectives and detailed plans, impact analysis and risk assessment of detailed plan, develop multiple project charters for development teams and focus them on execution, project management on ongoing basis and related reporting.
Job Background/context:
The role forms part of GFT Product Control Development Team in Pune and supports the Product Control Department who have responsibility for controlling daily profit-and-loss reporting, price verification and new trading activity and works closely with many areas of the business, including the Trading desks, Middle Office, Risk Management, Operations and Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible to build and manage a strong development team from sourcing of candidates, interviewing, hiring, training, manage talent acquisition, performance appraisals, coaching and related functions of teams.
Be Hands-on and own and be responsible for end-to-end applications development and delivery.
Manage multiple developments teams in India/Shanghai/other locations and diverse cultures and environments- onshore/offshore/vendor teams.
Provides technical leadership and expertise to ensure efficient design, development, and implementation.
Develops strategy and exercising control over resources, budget management and planning which impacts the application development function, accountable for end-to-end results.
Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of how the development function integrates within overall business/technology to achieve objectives; requires a good understanding of the industry.
Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external resources.
Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across Product Control and Treasury functions); may communicate with external parties.
Participate in change control boards and steering committees and provides inputs for technology prioritization, estimation, delivery, and post implementation reviews.
Gain functional domain knowledge and support team in delivery of critical regulatory runs on the platform, if required by getting hands-on analyzing and troubleshooting.
Enhancing Architectural quality of the platform to target state GFT architecture principles/ guidelines to local teams to help evolve the platform
Overall, with experience in end-to-end life cycle of trade (trade booking, P&L/PAA, Risk computation, Finance), experience with dev ops and SDLC standards.
Ensure projects Plans are created and PTS documentation is up to date.
Work closely with Cross Functional Teams e.g., Business Analysis, Product Assurance, Platforms and Infrastructure, Business Office, Controls and Production Support. Prepare handover documents, manage SIT with oversight of UAT.
Identify and proactively resolve issues that could impact system performance, reliability, and usability.
Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of how the development function integrates within overall business/technology to achieve objectives; requires a good understanding of the industry.
Work proactively & independently to address development requirements and articulate issues/challenges with enough lead time to address risks
Ability to understand complex data problems, analyze and provide generic solutions compatible with existing Infrastructure.
Design, Implement, Integrate and test new features.
Owns success – Takes responsibility for successful delivery of the solutions. Mentoring other developers on their implementation as needed, and organize review activities like design review, code review and technical document review etc. to ensure successful delivery.
Explore existing application systems, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation.
Contribute to continual improvement by suggesting improvements to software architecture, software development process and new technologies etc.
Ability to build relationship with business and technology stakeholders.
Person Specification
Knowledge/Experience:
15+ years of Experience in Java/ETL based data processing systems/platform development at top tier Banks/ FIs
Should have led and developed Enterprise scale platforms, products, or frameworks.
Strong knowledge on Java, databases, Parallel/Cluster compute frameworks, Hadoop/Spark/HDFS/Big Data technologies.
Strong proven experience of managing multiple scrum/feature driven development teams.
Strong Database knowledge using Oracle/other relational DB.
Experience in Micro Services, Docker containers, Kubernetes and Cloud platforms like AWS.
Familiar with standard SDLC and Agile processes, OOAD, DDD
Good understanding of Finance data flows and Finance applications within large bank. Prior experience with Product Control Technology would be an advantage.
Sound leadership, decision making and people skills including that of nurturing and mentoring talent directing them to the targeted goals.
Problem solving and analytical skills along with the abilities to present the same through written and verbal communications.
Good change management discipline
Ability to interact with partner systems/ teams / Production management is improving system health, data flows, scalability of the platform.
