Job Description : DevOps Lead engineer
General summary
As a key member of the Dell Digital and IT’s DevOps team, the DevOps Sr. engineer will responsible for the development and onboarding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery products for Cloud Native Applications and Traditional Web Applications across Dell IT and enable adoption of end to end DevOps across application teams. The ability to not only code and configure tools but also deep understanding of Cloud Technologies and the ability to assemble and integrate technology across disparate platforms is critical to success. This role requires not only deep understanding of development and Cloud Platforms but also a holistic view of Devops including Test Driven Development and a Change agent across IT. Candidates should be a technical domain expert, experienced with DevOps both as a philosophy and having implemented its ideas.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for development and onboarding of CI/CD pipelines automating software delivery for Cloud Native Solutions deployable on Pivotal Cloud Foundry PaaS Platform
Integrate Testing frameworks and tools to automate testing into Software Delivery
Work closely with Software delivery teams to evangelize DevOps culture and enable Automation for their applications
Act as a liaison with other leads (security, infrastructure, EA and Application) and with delivery teams working primarily within an Agile and Pivotal methodology
Mentor development and onboarding engineers in team.
Research and develop best of breed technologies around automation across traditional web application as well as Cloud Native applications that leverage Pivotal Cloud Foundry PaaS Platform
Essential Requirements
Experience in implementation of end to end CI/CD solution using popular Platforms like Jenkins or GitLab
Very Strong hands-on experience with Docker/LXC containers and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
Prior experience automating real-world production environment
Strong scripting skills in popular languages e.g Powershell, Python, Bash etc.
Experience in Puppet and Bosh with demonstrated experience in automation using these frameworks.
Deep understanding of Microservice Architecture and REST based implementation of APIs.
Experience with automated testing tools like selenium and JMeter
Strong experience in Source code repositories like Git and SVN
Experience in Cloud Native Application Architecture with working knowledge of Platform as a Service (PaaS). Experience in Pivotal Cloud Foundry or open source Cloud Foundry platform is desired
In depth experience with Linux, specifically with Ubuntu Operating System
Very good understanding of declarative programming based on YAML
Strong communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated experience in creating technical white papers around DevOps.
Ability to discuss and defend Architectural decisions with team of strong technical architects.
Strong working knowledge of developing 12-factor applications
Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in the IT field focusing on development projects and DevOps
Minimum of 4 years of development experience in .Net or Java/Spring application platforms
Minimum of 2 years of hands on experience designing DevOps solutions leveraging Docker container and Kubernetes
2+ years of DevOps and Build Tools experience
2+ years of experience in automation frameworks like Puppet
2+ years of strong experience in Linux administration and scripting
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science required. Masters is desired.
Strong preference for a polyglot programmer who is comfortable in various development environment including .NET Core
