Job Description

The payment industry, in parallel with technology in general, is experiencing a period of rapid, disruptive innovation. Real-time payments (RTP) is a new strategic initiative at Visa, focused on building the next generation payment network connecting, individuals and businesses with banks, fin-tech players, countries, and regions with the flexibility to use a variety of payment instruments.
Part of the broader Digital and Developer Platform organization (DDP), RTP team is undergoing a major ramp-up, looking to hire the best and brightest technologists with ambition and drive to build the next generation of payment network that would further extend the reach and scale of Visa’s payment network. Responsibilities
The role involves extensive hands-on activities. Here are key job responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers.
Collaborate with business units and technical staff globally to define requirements.
Evaluate technical options and provide recommendation on scope and scale of effort required to develop an end-to-end solution.
Be accountable for implementing highly scalable, low-latency, high-throughput systems that have five 9 availability.
Drive defining new capabilities, architecture, and solution documents; consistently be hands-on with low level design, code review, coding, and unit testing activities.
Coordinate engineering activities across the delivery of the project and work with engineers to ensure they are delivering efficiently and to high quality standards.
Ability to identify and manage risks at all stages of the project. Co-ordinate and influence business and technology partners spread across different regions to mitigate these risks.
Support and deliver initiatives resulting from business planning and technology strategy.
Build a culture of engineering excellence within the team; drive adoption of practices like use of architectural principles, reuse, innovation, continuous integration, security, code reviews, code coverage, code quality and shift left.
Identify opportunities for enhancements and refinements to standards, processes, and systems.
Participate and invest significant time in development of new capabilities
Work collaboratively across team boundaries to share common infrastructure and functional capabilities
Provide feedback to influence the team’s roadmap and strategy

Qualifications

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of Software Development ExperienceYou have a proven track record of having led and delivered complex projects where complexity is a function of a combination of these factors – domain knowledge, distributed architecture, technical stack, influencing and collaborating with multiple technology partners and business partnersYou have proven experience as a technical leader with ability to understand the requirements and independently, architect, design and build the high-quality large-scale enterprise class applications.You have proven experience of leading an engineering team of 6-8 peopleBe a creative thinker, who is solutions and results-oriented, as well as business-focusedHave excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical discipline. Ability to successfully navigate through ambiguous situations is highly desirable.You are a Java expert (core Java, memory management, concurrency, functional programming) and you have hands-on experience with Java EE, Spring/SpringBoot, Hibernate, Rest APIs, MySQL, and exposure to container-based technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).You have strong experience with Agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Sonar, JUnit, Mockito.You have strong experience with shift left practices.You have experience with performance testing your applications.Understand and own component security analysis, including code and data flow review. Collaborate with security team to implement and verify secure coding techniques.You have the passion to work with people and help mentor your team to reach new heights.You have solid CS fundamentals and good grasp of DS and AlgorithmsYou have excellent problem-solving skillsYou have software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languagesYou must like and be comfortable with being hands onYou are self-motivated and drive for excellenceYou must have a good base in building scalable, reliable, and highly performant systemsIf you have experience in Financial services and/or payments processing industry, it is a plus
