Job Description : This is an Site Reliability Engineer / Developer position in Inventory Data & Enterprise Application Services (IDEAS) Observability group that will play a key role in adoption of DevOps model by building automated deployment, monitor and maintain the health of Observability platform targeted SLO and SLAs.
IDEAS – Observability organization is responsible to manage a full-stack Observability solution for various critical applications, infrastructures across traditional compute environments on-premise and public cloud across Citi globally. Our primary goal is to provide telemetry data (log, metrics, events) to monitor and self-heal systems and application globally
Responsibilities:
Define, maintain, and monitor performance and availability metrics as benchmark and best practices to improving performance and availability of Grafana enterprise wide
Hands on experience to integrate and automate key tasks (Data source, Dashboards, and alert manager configuration) using ansible and CI/CD pipeline
Collaborate with teams to define standard performance and availability metrics and data models across platforms and technology stack
Implementing self-healing capabilities via Policy as Code to achieve zero manual intervention
Highly technical and hands-on experience development and highly scalable and mission critical observability platform(s).
Develop visualizations in Grafana providing single pane views for end user experience, application, infrastructure & security
Collaborate with the business teams to develop metrics measuring the performance against initiatives and report on those to stakeholders.
Collaborate with the SRE and Application Integration teams to ensure there is a convergence of business, technical and security requirements
Requirements:
Working knowledge of SRE principles
5 to 7 years of experience in developing applications in python, java, node.js, golang
3 to 5 years of experience working with various agents and collectors (Fluentbit, Prometheus Exporters, Open telemetry, Splunk)
5 + years hands-on-experience in scripting (such as Ansible, Powershell, etc).
Extensive experience in working with time series data, as well as critical application metrics e.g. java Jmx, thread pools, GC, etc
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
A good team player and able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move towards consensus.
Solid Agile understanding / experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
Knowledge in any other enterprise monitoring systems will be good to have
