AWS EMR (Elastic Map Reduce) in India is looking for talented engineers to work on and scale a heavily used AWS Service.

Key job responsibilities
We are doing innovative work in building up and scaling out the EMR service to make it the best place in the cloud for our customers to run their big data workloads. We’re looking for the best minds in the game to design and build features for the EMR service.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from senior and principal engineers who are domain experts at AWS. You will be part of a collaborative and growing team working on complex problems for a successful AWS service with an expanding customer base. We’ll trust you to design and implement critical high performance large scale distributed systems and services. We will be counting on your ability to independently translate complex designs to shipping production code. We appreciate ownership, curiosity, and craftsmanship over specific knowledge of frameworks. In addition you will excel at Amazon’s leadership principles and will embody customer obsession in every action you take. A day in the life
You will work backwards from the customer needs and you will get to do everything from designing and building large scale systems and cutting-edge features for the savviest customers in the business. You will have a chance to work with the open source community and contribute significant portions of software to open source projects including Hadoop, Hive, Presto, and Jupyter Enterprise Gateway.

About the team
Amazon EMR is the industry leading cloud-native big data platform for processing vast amounts of data easily, quickly, and cost-effectively. Using open source frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Apache HBase, Apache Flink, and Presto, coupled with the dynamic scalability of Amazon EC2 and scalable storage of Amazon S3, EMR gives analytical teams the engines and elasticity to run Petabyte-scale analysis for a fraction of the cost of traditional on-premises clusters. We recently launched two new deployment options for EMR – EMR on EKS and EMR Serverless, as part of our ongoing efforts to further improve the overall experience of running big data workloads on the cloud.

Masters Degree in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering
Experience in Container Platforms Kubernetes, Docker
Knowledge of Big Data applications like Spark, Presto, Hive, Hadoop
Proven experience in delivering one or more cloud scale services
Strong experience in working with stakeholders like product managers, senior architects in translating functional requirements to robust architecture and designs
