Cloudera is looking for an experienced Staff software engineer to join the Data Services Platform team.
The Data Services Platform is building a common substrate for Cloudera’s next-gen Data Services for data warehousing, data engineering, machine learning etc. We are building a hybrid data platform that abstracts out the complexities of various cloud providers like AWS, Azure and is the foundation pillar of Cloudera’s hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud strategy. Cloudera’s next-gen Data Services enables customers to utilize their on-premise and cloud infrastructure, dynamically adjusting and scaling to their workload needs. These Cloudera Data Services, whether hosted by Cloudera or the customer, enable the latest and evolved techniques of managing data to empower various consumers of data from analysts to data scientists.
The Data Services Platform team have deep technical expertise in distributed computing and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Apache Hadoop, etc. and on various cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift. We have team members who have been the pioneers of open source projects like Apache YARN , Apache Ambari , YuniKorn for Kubernetes . We are deeply involved in open source communities like Apache Software Foundation, CNCF.
We are looking for an experienced backend engineer with working experience on Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. You will be responsible for designing, building and delivering this platform and will closely collaborate with partner engineering teams to deliver features and products at a rapid pace. You must be self-motivated, innovative, and proactive. This role offers significant opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
Help build a microservices based platform layer for Cloudera’s Data Services.
Design, code, and implement elegant, scalable, enterprise-grade services.
Build strong relationships and collaborate with developers across organization boundaries, as well as Product Management and Field Engineering.
Enhance developer velocity and team agility.
Qualifications
8+ years of backend development experience in Go, Java, Scala.
Experience with at least one of the following Cloud technologies – Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with microservices design and development (Go, GRPC, SQL).
Demonstrate ability to go deep into technology and complex distributed systems.
Experience building scalable, robust and secure enterprise applications.
Self-driven and motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pluses
Experience building PaaS and SaaS products.
Expertise with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Openshift, EKS, AKS, GKE, Google Anthos etc.).
Experience working in open source Apache Hadoop Community and more broadly the Big Data ecosystem communities (e.g. Apache Hive, Apache HBase, Apache Spark, etc.)
Experience working in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community.
Experience with Cloud Storage (S3, EFS, ADLS) and Cloud Networking.
Expertise in large scale resource schedulers like YARN, YuniKorn.
