Job Description : We are looking for dynamic, motivated and responsible residential or non-residential Activity Leaders and EFL teachers to join our team to work with international students under 18 years of age.We are an English language centre with a reputation for delivering quality lessons. We were established in 2008, and since then have also been running a summer junior camp in Bournemouth. We proudly describe ourselves as a ‘boutique’ summer camp – independent, customer-focused and high in quality.· You will be required to work under the guidance of the Activities Manager, plan, organize and implement a high quality social programme of activities and excursions, leading by example.· You will always ensure the safety and welfare of students· You will be enthusiastic and motivate students to take an active part in all activities· You’ll be part of a dynamic, creative and high-achieving team.Introduction to our Junior ProgrammesOur students come from all over the world – we welcome students from over 15 different countries each year. Students receive English language tuition together with a fun-filled and purposeful activities programme. The activities programme includes daytime and evening activities and full-day and half-day trips to local attractions and popular tourist destinations.We sometimes operate a ‘zigzag’ timetable whereby half of the students have lessons in the morning and activities in the afternoon, and the others vice-versa, alternating on a weekly basis. Please note that the programmes and timetables are different for each year depending on the volume of students.United World Activity Leaders are responsible for planning, promoting and organizing the activity programme of the summer centre.Working WeekActivity Leaders typically work 48 hours over 6 days per week, with at least 1 full day off per week. Working hours include activities, trips, excursions, supervision duties (mealtimes, breaks, night duties etc).Our team will consist of:Activity leadersLocation: Bournemouth. In general, the position is residential, and you are usually require to live on campus for the entire duration of your contract.Residential. Will be required to carry out night duties and breakfast supervisionNon-residential staff. Non-residential staff will not be required to carry out night duties or breakfast supervision.Summer EFL Teachers + Activity leaders.Based on a full-time contract 16 hours per week teaching + 24 hours activity leader duties. This job would suit QTS teachers looking for work during the summer holidays.Duties and Responsibilities· To read and understood the staff handbook and be fully conversant with our policies for the welfare and protection of children. At all times when on duty, staff are responsible for the care, welfare and safety of students whilst ensuring they are following school rules.· To consider all potential hazards concerning Health & Safety· To have all equipment ready and set up and pack at the end of the day if necessary· Participate in school inductions· To prepare for activity sessions thoroughly and do local travel research to help students.· To be a positive and enthusiastic presence on campus, interacting with students and generally working to enhance their stay in the UK· When running an activity, to supervise other staff and encourage them to take a full and active part· If residential, lights-out duties. Night checks to ensure every one in their rooms. Other residential duties include morning wake-ups, room checks and generally caring for the welfare of our younger students.· To assist with all admin duties as required.· To assist in airport transfer to welcome and farewell students.· To promote, organize and run all activities and events as well as encourage and motivate students to participate.· To escort groups on trips and to lead walking tours of the main sights providing the students with information about them· To carry out meal duties eating at tables with the students· To undertake local travel and research· To assist at any time, whether on duty or not, with emergency situations· Additional duties as requiredSKILLS REQUIREDEssential- Native or native level English speaker- Enthusiastic and positive about the role- Ability to organize and deliver activities such as drama, arts & crafts, talent shows- Excellent communication skills- Able to work both as individual and part of a team- Energetic and quick to learn- Ability to address large groups- Ability to sustain long periods of physical activity- Enjoy spending time with children- Ability to adapt quickly to any situation- Flexibility and resilience- Willing to go above above and beyond to deliver excellent customer serviceDesirable- Qualifications in related subjects (e.g. arts, drama, sports, etc)*- Coaching/arts teaching qualification*- First aid qualification- Previous summer school experience- Experience of working with children and/or teenagers- Competent sports/gamesperson with knowledge of the rules and organisation of one or more sports- Computer literate and proficient with video editing software.As well as a good weekly salary, food and accommodation your summer with United World will give you:· Confidence and experience working an in international environment· Important transferable skills in the job market: decision making, team work, customer service, planning and organizing events· Valuable experience working with young people from a variety of backgrounds.TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED.
